SEKEM Strengthens Business and Sustainability Performance with 12% Revenue Growth in 2025

Cairo, Egypt – SEKEM has reported robust business and sustainable development achievements for the year 2025, highlighting the effectiveness of its integrated model that merges economic growth with ecological sustainability, social justice, and cultural development. This progress aligns with the SEKEM Vision Goals set for 2057. Despite facing a challenging macroeconomic landscape characterized by inflation and elevated interest rates, SEKEM has successfully delivered solid financial results while enhancing its environmental, social, and cultural impact throughout Egypt.

Holistic Mission and Community Impact

The year 2025 emphasized SEKEM’s commitment to a holistic mission that combines business performance with sustainable community development. The organization made measurable strides across its various companies, projects, and environmental initiatives, significantly impacting a wide range of community stakeholders.

Helmy Abouleish, CEO of SEKEM, stated that 2025 was marked by resilience, growth, and transformation. He noted that the organization not only bolstered its business performance but also expanded opportunities for farmers and advanced organic agriculture, creating tangible environmental, social, and cultural impacts. These outcomes illustrate that economic success and sustainable development can coexist.

Financial Performance and Growth Drivers

SEKEM concluded 2025 with consolidated revenues of EGP 1.726 billion, reflecting a 12% increase compared to the previous year. A significant contributor to this performance was ISIS Organic, which achieved revenues of EGP 1.27 billion, representing a 27% year-on-year growth. The company broadened its international presence, reaching markets in the UAE, France, Qatar, Germany, Jordan, and Malaysia, while also recording its highest annual sales performance in the history of the SEKEM Group. Agricultural operations experienced a notable revenue increase of 42%, driven by expanded farming activities in SEKEM’s Wahat, Minya, and Belbeis farms, along with a diversified crop production strategy.

Exports emerged as a crucial growth driver, constituting 51% of total sales. This underscores SEKEM’s strengthening position in international markets and its contribution to Egypt’s export economy. The rising global demand for organic products affirms that organic agriculture is both competitive and economically viable. This recognition reinforces SEKEM’s belief that organic food systems are practical solutions to contemporary environmental, health, social, and cultural challenges. When applying ‘true cost accounting’ that considers environmental and health impacts alongside market prices, organic products present a clear, cost-effective alternative to conventional options.

Environmental Initiatives and Carbon Credits

Through its Economy of Love standard, SEKEM farmers generated over 268,000 carbon credits, with more than 35,000 credits sold, valued at approximately €6.7 million. The organization maintained its carbon-neutral status, achieving a carbon sequestration of 20,830 tons of CO₂ equivalent and a net positive carbon balance exceeding 17,000 tons. Renewable energy sources accounted for 32% of total energy consumption.

The Egyptian Biodynamic Association (EBDA) expanded its organic agriculture network in 2025, now encompassing over 40,146 registered farmers across 23 governorates. This network spans more than 67,000 hectares of cultivated land, assisting farmers in transitioning to biodynamic and organic farming systems. Biodiversity restoration efforts progressed significantly, with over 803,000 trees planted across SEKEM farms, including more than 145,000 new trees added in 2025. Capacity-building for farmers remained a priority, with over 60,000 training sessions conducted nationwide through a network of more than 120 agronomists, enhancing productivity, resilience, and long-term livelihoods.

Cultural and Societal Development

In addition to its economic and environmental achievements, SEKEM reinforced its cultural and societal development agenda in 2025. The organization continued to invest in human development through educational, artistic, and lifelong learning programs that promote creativity, ethical awareness, and social cohesion within communities. SEKEM’s educational institutions and cultural initiatives reached a diverse array of stakeholders, including thousands of students, farmers, and community members, thereby reinforcing values of sustainability, cooperation, and responsible citizenship. These initiatives are integral to SEKEM’s holistic model, ensuring that economic and environmental progress is accompanied by social transformation and cultural awareness.

Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development, the academic and research arm of the SEKEM Initiative, plays a crucial role in advancing applied research, building educational capacity, and translating field experiences into scalable knowledge. These efforts enhance SEKEM’s impact and contribute to sustainable development in Egypt.

Future Plans and Strategic Goals

Building on its accomplishments in 2025, SEKEM aims to further scale organic and biodynamic agriculture, expand climate finance mechanisms, and deepen its sustainable business operations. Through the ongoing growth of the Egyptian Biodynamic Association (EBDA) ecosystem and strategic partnerships across Egypt, SEKEM seeks to improve farmers’ livelihoods while accelerating its contribution to a resilient, climate-positive economy.
