Etihad Rail Launches: Essential Travel Rules for Passengers, Including Luggage Limits and Child Policies

Dubai’s Etihad Rail has commenced passenger services this week, connecting Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The inaugural trips began on June 30, significantly reducing travel time between the two emirates to approximately 105 minutes, with trains capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour. As travelers prepare for this new rail experience, several key guidelines are essential for a smooth journey.

Timeliness is Crucial

Travelers are advised to arrive at the station at least 20 minutes before their scheduled departure. Tickets can be purchased in advance via the Etihad Rail website or mobile app, as well as at the station or through the contact center. Ticket sales close five minutes prior to departure, and boarding gates shut two minutes before the train leaves.

Identification Requirements

Passengers must carry a ticket issued in their name along with valid identification that matches the ticket details. This identification may be checked during the journey, ensuring that all passengers comply with travel regulations.

Child Travel Policies

Children under two years of age can travel for free if seated on an adult’s lap, though they do not receive a separate luggage allowance. Children aged up to 14 must be accompanied by an adult, while those over 14 are permitted to travel alone. Additionally, children aged two to 17 can benefit from a 50% discount on ticket prices.

Luggage Regulations

For those traveling in Comfort Class, food can be purchased from a trolley. Premium Class passengers receive complimentary snacks and have access to a variety of food options available on board.

Ticket Changes and Refunds

Policies regarding ticket changes and refunds vary by ticket type. Saver tickets are non-refundable and cannot be changed. Value tickets allow for date and time adjustments but do not permit refunds. Flex tickets offer the most flexibility, allowing changes before departure and up to 30 minutes after, subject to specific conditions.
