Experience the Spirit of Ramadan at Expo City Dubai: Hai Ramadan Celebration
As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, Expo City Dubai is set to host its annual Hai Ramadan celebration, welcoming visitors of all ages and cultures to partake in engaging cultural activities and diverse dining experiences at Al Wasl Plaza.
Celebrating Community Culture
Hai Ramadan is a vital feature of the broader Season of Wulfa, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The celebration is deeply rooted in three guiding principles—reflection, connection, and blessing. It aims to foster a sense of community through shared experiences and international Iftar offerings, encapsulated perfectly within Expo City’s signature iftar events.
Event Details and Activities
This vibrant celebration will take place from February 21 to March 15, coinciding with the entire month of Ramadan. Al Wasl Plaza will be open daily to families and friends from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Visitors can enjoy a host of activities, including live orchestra performances, dynamic dome projections, and a range of cultural experiences that highlight the essence of the holy month. A key highlight will be the Iftar Cannon, a cherished Ramadan tradition in Dubai, which will be fired from the start of Ramadan right through to Eid Al Fitr.
A Message of Unity and Togetherness
Amna Abulhoul, the Executive Creative Director of Entertainment and Experiences at Expo City Dubai, encapsulates the spirit of the event: “Hai Ramadan reflects the true spirit of Wulfa—the warmth, generosity, and sense of belonging that define the holy month. Under the dome, every detail is crafted to bring people together, from shared iftar tables to international cuisines, allowing for moments of reflection and communal experiences.”
Indulging in Iftar Experiences
Hai Ramadan presents two unique iftar experiences that cater to different tastes and preferences:
Iftar Al Souk
- This experience draws its inspiration from traditional Emirati markets, featuring heritage food carts that allow guests to explore authentic flavors in a communal setting.
- The cost is AED 150 per person and is fully redeemable on food and beverages.
- Children aged three and under can enjoy their meal for free.
Iftar Al Majlis
- This seated dining experience offers an international buffet complemented by premium table service and live orchestral music beneath the architectural dome.
- Pricing is set at AED 285 per adult and AED 185 for children aged 4 to 11 years.
- Similar to Iftar Al Souk, children aged three and under can dine for free, although advance booking is required.
Family-Friendly Activities Beyond Iftar
The activities at Al Wasl Plaza extend beyond the iftar experiences, making it an ideal destination for families. Visitors can explore the Kids’ Sports Arena, a gaming zone featuring PlayStation, traditional Emirati games, and various Ramadan-themed workshops. Light and narrative projections on the dome will further enhance the festive atmosphere, providing entertainment for all.
