Hong Kong Momtrepreneurs’ 2026 Mother’s Day Event Celebrates “Invisible Strength” of SEN Mothers and Full-Time Moms

HONG KONG SAR – On May 8, 2026, the Hong Kong registered charity Hong Kong Momtrepreneurs (HKM) hosted its annual Mother’s Day flagship event. Themed “The Invisible Strength: Nurturing Families, Building Futures” (堅毅雙翼:滋養家庭‧創建未來), the event united business leaders and a Paralympic gold medalist to honor the resilience of full-time mothers and mothers of children with special educational needs (SEN). This gathering highlighted their contributions both within families and in the broader community.

About Hong Kong Momtrepreneurs and the Moms4Moms Fellowship Program

Founded in 2018, Hong Kong Momtrepreneurs is dedicated to empowering mothers through lifelong learning and an entrepreneurial mindset. Its flagship initiative, the Moms4Moms Fellowship Program, aims to transform the “invisible labor” of mothers into recognized capabilities. This program combines entrepreneurial knowledge with practical skills, enabling mothers to pursue their aspirations while managing family responsibilities.

Lena Wong, the founder of HKM, emphasized the often-overlooked potential of full-time mothers. She stated that the Fellowship seeks to harness the soft skills and life experiences gained through motherhood, integrating them with entrepreneurial training to create a positive societal impact.

Annual Theme & Partner Support

This year’s event focused on a marginalized group of mothers, particularly those facing the unique challenges associated with SEN. The Payment Cards Group served as the lead supporting partner for the event.

In her keynote address, Beatrice Tai, CEO of The Payment Cards Group, discussed how accessible payment technology can significantly aid mom entrepreneurs. She noted that mobile payments facilitate remote work, online retail, and market participation. The straightforward application process and rapid fund transfers, along with data analytics capabilities, allow merchants to refine their marketing strategies based on customer insights.

Tai remarked that AI and accessible payment technology are emerging as powerful tools for mom entrepreneurs, helping them bridge opportunity gaps and address business challenges.

Star Panel: Cross-Sector Guests Share Heartfelt Experiences

A key highlight of the event was a themed panel discussion featuring insights from various guests on supporting mothers from both personal and corporate perspectives:

  • Ho Yuenkei, BBS, a double gold medalist in boccia at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, shared a poignant story about how her mother’s unwavering love and support shaped her childhood, enabling her to overcome challenges and achieve success.
  • Olivia Wong, General Manager of Environmental & Social Responsibility at MTR Corporation, highlighted the importance of flexible working hours in helping mothers balance professional and family commitments.
  • Lucia Ngan, Project Manager at Learning Bridge, discussed how diverse daily activities can support SEN youth and their mothers in both educational and everyday contexts.

Professional Judging Witnesses 12 Mothers’ Business Pitches

The event also featured the Moms4Moms 2025/26 Graduation Ceremony, where twelve fellows, including mothers of SEN children, presented 60-second business pitches to a distinguished panel of judges. These graduates demonstrated the confidence they gained through the program, transforming their caregiving experiences into viable business plans.

The judging panel included:

  • Danny Lap Lee, Managing Partner at VCA Capital Limited
  • Prudence Wat, Human Resources Director at Cyberport Asia
  • Lisa Lam, Deputy Executive Director at HandsOn Hong Kong
