DCT Abu Dhabi Launches Immersive Summer Camps for Children Across the Emirate
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced the launch of innovative summer camps designed to engage children in immersive learning experiences throughout the emirate. Running from June to August 2026, these camps provide opportunities for children to explore museums, cultural institutions, heritage sites, creative centers, and performance spaces.
Multi-Site Learning Experience
The summer camps will take place in various locations across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, focusing on themes such as science, heritage, arts, and performance. Participants will have the chance to develop new skills while learning about the stories and traditions that have shaped the UAE and the world.
From July 1 to August 27, the Abu Dhabi Libraries Summer Camp invites children aged 5-14 to enhance their creative thinking and practical skills. The program, offered in both Arabic and English, includes a variety of hands-on workshops and competitions. Activities range from self-portrait drawing and mandala weaving to tote bag design and eco-printing, allowing children to engage in diverse creative experiences.
Integration of Technology and Local Entrepreneurship
The camps aim to foster creativity and innovation by incorporating AI and emerging technologies into the training. A fashion design challenge inspired by Project Runway, storytelling sessions, and cultural exchange activities are also part of the curriculum. Additionally, the program will support local small businesses through dedicated activations, providing young participants with insights into entrepreneurship and the creative industries.
The initiative is a collaborative effort involving several organizations, including the Emirates Red Crescent, The Artisans House, Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, Emirates Heritage Club, Youth Councils, and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority.
Exploration of Cultural Districts
From July 6 to August 7, children will embark on a journey through the Saadiyat Cultural District, where they will explore three prominent museums. The camp offers a creative framework that encourages children to examine themes such as flora and fauna, landscapes, movement, and colors. Participants can opt for one or three full weeks to explore all the sites.
At the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, campers will learn about the origins of life and the natural forces shaping the planet. Louvre Abu Dhabi will introduce them to human creativity through an exploration of ancient and contemporary artworks, emphasizing innovation and cultural exchange. Zayed National Museum will allow children to engage with around 1,500 objects spanning over 300,000 years of human history. A visit to teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi will further enhance their experience by showcasing the intersection of art, technology, and imagination.
Legacy Camp: Connecting with Heritage
The Legacy Camp, running from July 6 to August 20 in Abu Dhabi and July 20 to August 20 in Al Ain, invites children aged 5-14 to connect with the UAE’s living heritage. In Abu Dhabi, participants will explore Emirati heritage at Qasr Al Hosn, where guided explorations will bring the nation’s oldest fort to life. At the House of Artisans, children will engage in traditional crafts through hands-on workshops. Al Maqta’a Museum will introduce them to the emirate’s historic gateway through interactive activities.
In Al Ain, the camp will focus on the stories and traditions that have shaped the UAE, providing immersive heritage experiences across significant cultural sites. This initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding of the nation’s identity and living heritage.
Artistic Exploration and Performance
From July 6 to August 20, children will also have the opportunity to explore creativity across three cultural sites in Abu Dhabi: the Art Studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat, the Children’s Art Centre at Cultural Foundation, and Bait Al Khatt (House of Calligraphy). Participants will engage in various artistic disciplines, including painting, printmaking, and textile art, while developing their creative skills.
The program will also introduce children to storytelling and the traditions of Arabic calligraphy, allowing them to work with traditional tools and materials. This hands-on approach aims to build confidence and a deeper connection to culture.
From July 12 to August 28, a camp at Bait Al Oud and Cultural Foundation will immerse children in music, movement, dance, and storytelling through collaborative performance. Participants will discover rhythm, build confidence, and develop stage presence while creating and performing with their peers.
Additional Camps and Activities

An interdisciplinary camp will take place from July 13 to August 13 across various cultural venues, including the Abu Dhabi Children’s Library and the Children’s Art Centre.
