Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia Launches ‘Aman Plans’ to Strengthen Digital Protection for Children

Riyadh: Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia has introduced ‘Aman Plans’, a pioneering service designed to enhance digital protection for children at the mobile network level. This initiative eliminates the need for additional applications or complex device configurations, responding to the increasing demand for digital safety solutions as smartphones become integral to children’s daily lives for learning and communication.

Innovative Digital Protection

‘Aman Plans’ utilizes integrated technology within the Virgin Mobile network to automatically filter harmful content and restrict access to various social media platforms, including TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, X, Facebook, Threads, and Discord. This protection activates automatically whenever a device connects to the Virgin Mobile network, ensuring a seamless experience for users without requiring parental control software or manual adjustments to device settings.

The service also enables YouTube Restricted Mode, adhering to global standards to minimize children’s exposure to inappropriate content while allowing access to age-appropriate educational and entertainment materials.

Addressing Digital Wellbeing

The company highlighted the evolving role of smartphones, emphasizing their importance as tools for learning and digital skill development. This shift necessitates solutions that balance technological benefits with the need to protect children’s digital wellbeing. Unlike traditional parental control solutions reliant on apps or device settings, ‘Aman Plans’ offers network-level protection, making it more challenging to bypass or disable, thereby providing parents with enhanced peace of mind.

Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia clarified that the service respects user privacy, stating it does not access personal data or device content. It does not delete existing files, photos, or videos but restricts the downloading of new content and interactions through blocked applications while connected to the Virgin Mobile network.

Flexible Plan Options

‘Aman Plans’ are available in two configurations to accommodate varying customer needs: Aman 60, which includes 10GB of data and 100 local minutes, and Aman 100, offering 30GB of data and 300 local minutes, with integrated digital protection. The company noted that this protection is only active while connected to the Virgin Mobile network and is not available when using Wi-Fi or roaming internationally, as the service relies on network-integrated technologies.

Commitment to Digital Safety

The launch of ‘Aman Plans’ aligns with Beyond ONE Saudi Arabia’s vision of developing telecommunications solutions that foster responsible technology use. The service aims to enhance digital safety and support families in navigating the Kingdom’s digital transformation confidently.

While the company confirmed that ‘Aman Plans’ provide advanced protection through network-level content filtering, it acknowledged the inherent limitations of digital protection technologies, noting that it cannot guarantee the blocking of all online content due to the internet’s dynamic nature.

The service is subject to terms and conditions and is exclusively available as part of Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia’s ‘Aman Plans’.
