UAE Intercepts Three Ballistic Missiles, Strengthens Defense Against 121 Drones
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) successfully intercepted three ballistic missiles on Wednesday, alongside the detection and interception of 121 drones. While 129 drones were identified, eight of them descended within UAE territory. This heightened defense response comes amid ongoing Iranian aerial assaults.
Missile Interception and Drone Defense
Since the onset of the Iranian offensive, UAE defense forces have detected a total of 189 ballistic missiles, managing to destroy 175. Thirteen missiles fell into the sea, with one landing on land. Furthermore, the UAE identified 941 Iranian drones, successfully intercepting 876, with 65 managing to land within the country.
In addition to the drones and ballistic missiles, UAE forces intercepted eight cruise missiles, which led to some collateral damage in civilian areas.
Casualties and Responses
The recent missile and drone strikes resulted in three fatalities, involving nationals from Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Injuries were reported among individuals from multiple countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, and others, totaling 68 injured parties.
The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that the sounds heard across the nation were linked to the interception efforts. It noted that debris from the interceptions caused minor to moderate damage to various civilian facilities.
Official Statements
In a statement, the ministry expressed its commitment to maintaining high alert status and readiness against potential threats. It condemned the attacks as “a blatant act of aggression and a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and international law.” The ministry emphasized that ensuring the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors remains its top priority and asserted the right to respond decisively to escalating hostilities.
The ministry also urged the public to rely on official sources for information and to refrain from sharing unverified reports regarding the situation.
