The discussions were held at the Sharjah Chamber’s headquarters, featuring H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, and H.E. Zaake Wanume Kibedi, Uganda’s Ambassador to the UAE. The discussions emphasized the need to intensify collaborative efforts to launch innovative initiatives that will deepen bilateral economic ties, enhance connectivity between the two business communities, and facilitate investor access to emerging opportunities in both markets.

H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais expressed appreciation for the Ugandan Embassy’s efforts in supporting SCCI’s initiatives, highlighting the importance of strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two business communities. He noted that Sharjah provides a competitive investment environment for Ugandan companies seeking regional and international expansion, supported by its strategic geographic location, world-class infrastructure, and a business-friendly ecosystem.

Promising Investment Opportunities

Al Owais reaffirmed SCCI’s commitment to offering comprehensive support services and facilitation mechanisms for Ugandan investors, enabling them to utilize Sharjah as a gateway to regional markets. H.E. Zaake Wanume Kibedi outlined the preliminary program for Uganda’s upcoming trade mission to the UAE, scheduled for October 2026. The Sharjah Chamber welcomed the planned visit, confirming its readiness to facilitate business matchmaking sessions and meetings with representatives of Sharjah’s business community to support mutually beneficial trade partnerships. The Ugandan delegation highlighted the impressive growth in bilateral trade between the UAE and Uganda, which surged from US$600 million in 2018 to US$4.7 billion, reflecting the depth of bilateral relations and the significant economic opportunities available to both nations.
