Emirates Introduces Third Daily Flight to Mauritius: A Gateway to Paradise

Introduction

In a significant step to enhance global connectivity, Emirates has recently announced the introduction of a third daily flight to the enchanting island of Mauritius. This new service not only aims to increase travel options for tourists from diverse regions—including the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas—but also strengthens the airline’s partnership with the local tourism sector.

Expanded Flight Schedule and Experience

The new flight, designated EK709, departs from Dubai at 06:55 and lands in Mauritius at 13:40 local time, offering a convenient choice for travelers. On the return leg, flight EK710 leaves Mauritius at 18:30, arriving back in Dubai at 01:10 the following day. This flight joins Emirates’ existing two daily services on this essential route, all of which feature the airline’s flagship A380 aircraft, renowned for their luxurious amenities.

Travelers can choose from various classes, including First Class, Business Class, and Economy Class, aboard the wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft. With return ticket prices initiating at AED 6,355, this new offering ensures a delightful experience for leisure and business travelers alike.

Enhancing Connectivity and Tourist Influx

The addition of Emirates’ third daily flight is expected to significantly bolster tourism in Mauritius. The airline’s codeshare agreement with Air Mauritius facilitates seamless connections, enabling passengers from key markets in the Far East—such as Japan, China, Malaysia, and Hong Kong—to easily reach this idyllic destination.

The improved flight timing enhances convenience, catering not only to holidaymakers but also to business professionals seeking opportunities on the island. The increased capacity on the route will provide a more than 30% boost in available seats, reflecting the growing demand for travel to this tropical paradise.

Economic Contributions to Mauritius

Emirates’ commitment to Mauritius extends beyond merely providing flights. Since launching services in 2002, the airline has transported over 8.8 million passengers and 126,000 tonnes of cargo, contributing approximately USD 119 million directly to the local economy. Tourism receipts associated with these flights are estimated to be around USD 264 million.

Additionally, Emirates has created approximately 3,600 jobs in Mauritius, ranging from pilots and cabin crew to engineering and customer service roles. This employment not only aids the airline’s operations but also contributes meaningfully to the local workforce.

Strengthening Partnerships in Tourism

The launch of this third daily flight illustrates Emirates’ dedication to working closely with Air Mauritius and the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA). The collaboration between Emirates and Air Mauritius enhances operational coordination, ensuring both airlines can effectively meet the rising demand for travel to and from Mauritius.

Such partnerships have proven vital in attracting travelers from international markets, solidifying Mauritius’ reputation as a premium tourist destination.

Emirates’ Expanding Network and Future Prospects

With the introduction of this new service, Emirates now operates a total of 14 weekly flights between Dubai and Mauritius, capable of accommodating over 15,000 passengers each week. The airline uniquely offers direct A380 services to the island, combining comfort with a stylish travel experience.

This expanded network ensures that travelers from Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas have ample options to reach this stunning destination, reinforcing the airline’s role as a critical player in the local tourism ecosystem.

Conclusion

The introduction of Emirates’ third daily flight underscores its ongoing commitment to supporting Mauritius, highlighting the importance of robust air connectivity in promoting tourism and economic growth. By offering a range of options and seamless connectivity through established partnerships, Emirates continues to enhance its presence in this idyllic corner of the Indian Ocean, benefitting travelers and the local economy alike.
