Emirates Airline has announced the cancellation of three additional flights between Jakarta and Dubai on September 8, following the temporary closure of Soekarno–Hatta International Airport due to volcanic ash. The airline confirmed that one outbound flight, EK356, along with two inbound flights, EK357 and EK359, were affected by this disruption, as reported by ARN News Centre.
This latest cancellation comes after eight flights were previously cancelled on September 6 and 7, marking the third consecutive day of disruptions caused by the ongoing volcanic activity. Passengers connecting through Dubai to Jakarta will not be permitted to travel from their point of origin until further notice, according to the airline’s statement.
Emirates Airline has advised travellers to regularly check their flight status and has encouraged those affected by the cancellations to rebook their trips. The airline is working to accommodate passengers as the situation evolves.
The disruptions are a result of eruptions from Indonesia’s Mount Anak Krakatau, which began on Friday. This volcanic activity has led to the closure of eight airports for safety reasons, impacting over 340,000 travellers and resulting in more than 2,900 flights being delayed, diverted, or cancelled.
