Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) has renewed its strategic partnership with National Taxi and Hala for an additional five years, significantly expanding the availability of taxis in Dubai. This agreement will add over 7,700 taxis, excluding those from the airport fleet, to the Hala app, which operates on the Careem platform.
The renewal of this partnership enhances Hala’s operational scale, bringing the total number of taxis available through the app to more than 13,000, supported by a network of over 26,000 drivers since Hala’s inception in 2019. This collaboration marks a significant milestone as it represents the first homegrown e-hailing joint venture between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Careem.
Since the partnership’s launch, nearly 120 million trips have been booked via Hala, underscoring its importance as a primary access point for residents and visitors to Dubai’s taxi services. The partnership not only broadens DTC’s reach beyond traditional street-hailing but also enhances vehicle utilization and connects drivers with a growing base of app-based customers.
This agreement aligns with the RTA’s goal of transitioning 80% of taxi trips to e-booking by 2030, reflecting both DTC and Hala’s commitment to modernizing Dubai’s transportation landscape. DTC aims to position itself as a comprehensive mobility provider, integrating conventional taxi services with digital platforms, while Hala continues to play a pivotal role in the emirate’s broader transport ecosystem.
As the demand for digital mobility solutions grows, this partnership is expected to further streamline taxi services in Dubai, making them more accessible and efficient for users.
According to the Dubai Media Office, the renewal signifies a robust commitment to enhancing the city’s transportation infrastructure and improving service delivery for all users.
