Dubai Customs reports AED 6.9 billion in refund applications for H1 2026

Published:

Dubai Customs has reported a significant increase in customs deposit refund applications, processing 1.36 million requests valued at AED 6.9 billion in the first half of 2026. This marks a 3.6% rise in the number of applications and a 13.1% increase in total value compared to AED 6.1 billion during the same period in 2025, highlighting the growing efficiency and responsiveness of the authority.

The rise in applications reflects a broader trend in trade activity and business operations within Dubai. The value of approved applications also saw a notable increase, climbing to AED 6.2 billion from AED 5.4 billion, which represents a 14.8% growth. This surge indicates a robust recovery and confidence among businesses in the region.

Efficiency in Processing

Dubai Customs has achieved a remarkable efficiency rate, completing 99% of applications within its target timeframe of two working days. This efficiency is bolstered by the authority’s investment in smart systems, which automatically approved around 844,500 applications—over 62% of all completed requests—marking a 10% increase from the previous year.

Support for Businesses

In a move to further support businesses, Dubai Customs has extended the deadline for companies to submit supporting documents for their refund applications from 30 to 90 days. This extension allows businesses additional time to gather necessary documentation, reducing the risk of losing eligible deposits and enhancing the overall claims process.

According to Dubai Customs, these developments not only streamline operations but also reflect the authority’s commitment to facilitating trade and supporting the economic landscape of Dubai.

The increase in refund applications and the enhancements in processing efficiency underscore the importance of adaptive measures in customs operations, particularly as businesses navigate a dynamic economic environment.
