Awqaf Abu Dhabi, LuLu Group Launch AED100M Initiative to Support Orphans

Abu Dhabi’s Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority has entered into a significant partnership with LuLu Group International to develop commercial projects valued at AED100 million. This initiative aims to generate revenue dedicated to enhancing the lives of orphans throughout the United Arab Emirates.

The projects will be constructed on endowment land managed by Awqaf Abu Dhabi. Revenue generated from these developments is intended to fund long-term care programs and initiatives designed to improve the quality of life for orphans in the region.

The memorandum of understanding was formalized during a signing ceremony attended by Fahd Abdulqader Al Qassim, Director General of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, and Ashraf Ali M.A., Executive Director of LuLu Group International. This partnership is part of the “Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans,” a broader initiative initiated under the auspices of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Under the terms of this agreement, Awqaf Abu Dhabi will provide land for development, while LuLu Group will manage the construction and operation of the projects. Officials indicated that the income generated from these projects will not only support the initiative’s long-term goals but will also contribute to various charitable and social programs managed by the authority.

This partnership exemplifies a strategy by Awqaf Abu Dhabi to maximize the potential of endowment assets, ensuring they yield sustainable financial returns while simultaneously benefiting social causes. The organization has emphasized its commitment to developing financial models that effectively support community welfare.

LuLu Group Chairman Yusuff Ali highlighted the importance of the private sector in furthering national initiatives through responsible investment practices. These investments aim to deliver lasting benefits for communities, underscoring a collective approach to social responsibility.

Each project within this initiative will undergo rigorous evaluation using performance and impact metrics. This assessment strategy is designed to ensure that the developments provide both financial returns and meaningful social benefits, aligning with the overarching objectives of the partnership.
