Sharjah Charity International airlifts 140 tonnes of winter aid to Gaza

Published:

Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has successfully airlifted 140 tonnes of essential aid to the Gaza Strip as part of its “Warm Winter for Gaza” campaign. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, aims to provide critical supplies to one million Palestinians facing harsh winter conditions.

On Sunday, Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SCI, oversaw the preparation of the aid at Sharjah International Airport’s Cargo Village. The shipment included winter clothing for children, women, and men, as well as food supplies, all intended to alleviate the suffering of those in Gaza during the cold season.

Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, Executive Director of SCI, emphasized the organization’s humanitarian commitment, stating that the aid reflects the generosity of UAE citizens and residents. The contribution includes approximately 50,000 pieces of winter clothing and various heating supplies, alongside winter blankets.

Hamoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, highlighted that the UAE’s humanitarian assistance to Gaza has surpassed 136,000 tonnes, accounting for about 46% of all international aid to the region, with an estimated total cost of $4.3 billion. This significant contribution underscores the UAE’s ongoing commitment to supporting those in need during crises.

The “Warm Winter for Gaza” campaign not only aims to provide immediate relief but also reinforces the UAE’s role as a leading humanitarian actor in the region. As winter approaches, the need for such initiatives becomes increasingly critical, and the SCI’s efforts are a testament to the solidarity and compassion of the UAE community.
