Dubai ranks first globally for FinTech in latest Global Financial Centres Index

Published:

Dubai has been ranked as the world’s leading location for FinTech in the latest Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI), according to a report by WAM. This achievement highlights the emirate’s resilience and solidifies its status as the only financial centre in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia to feature in the global top ten.

In addition to its top position in FinTech, Dubai has also secured the second spot globally for Professional Services. The emirate’s reputation on the global stage has improved, now ranking sixth overall. Notably, Dubai has maintained its number one position for future potential in the GFCI for four consecutive reports, reflecting ongoing confidence in its financial ecosystem.

The GFCI report, compiled by the London-based consultancy Z/Yen in collaboration with the China Development Institute, is based on 39,531 assessments from industry professionals worldwide. These assessments are combined with 143 instrumental factors to create a comprehensive ranking.

Essa Kazim, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), stated that the GFCI results reinforce Dubai’s status as a leading global financial centre. He attributed this success to the vision set by the emirate’s leadership through the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. Kazim noted that DIFC plays a crucial role in enhancing Dubai’s global competitiveness by attracting top financial institutions, talent, and innovation, while providing a conducive regulatory and business environment for sustainable growth.

Arif Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority, emphasized that Dubai’s strong position in the GFCI is supported by the scale and strength of DIFC. He highlighted that DIFC is the largest ecosystem of regulated financial firms in the region, offering a unique platform for innovation and collaboration across various sectors, including banking, capital markets, and FinTech. This diversity enables DIFC to continue advancing the financial services industry and shaping the future of the global financial landscape.

As Dubai continues to strengthen its role in the global financial system, the emirate’s ambitions are set to reinforce its standing among the world’s most influential financial centres.
