UAE weather forecast: Humidity reaches 95% in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, fog risk increases

Published:

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are experiencing extremely high humidity levels today, with relative humidity reaching 95% in coastal areas, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). This weather pattern is expected to persist, with temperatures remaining in the low-40s Celsius and mist anticipated to significantly reduce visibility overnight and into tomorrow morning, as reported by Emirates247.

The NCM indicates that humidity will peak at 95% along the coast and 90% in internal regions by nightfall. High humidity levels can create discomfort, as sweat evaporation is hindered, making it difficult for the body to cool down. Prolonged exposure to such conditions can lead to dehydration and heat exhaustion, particularly for individuals with respiratory issues like asthma.

Health and Safety Recommendations

In light of the high humidity, the NCM advises residents to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and wear breathable fabrics. For those indoors, using dehumidifiers and air conditioning can help manage moisture levels in the air.

Additionally, the NCM warns of a significant chance of fog formation tonight and tomorrow morning, which could severely impact driving conditions due to reduced visibility.

Current Temperature Overview

Temperatures across the UAE are holding steady in the low-40s. Coastal and island regions are expected to see highs between 38°C and 43°C, while internal areas will be warmer, ranging from 41°C to 46°C. Specifically, Abu Dhabi is forecasted to reach 42°C, while Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah will experience temperatures of 41°C. Other emirates, including Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain, will see highs of 38°C.

Sea Conditions

The NCM also reports light to moderate winds from the south-west to north-west, with speeds reaching up to 30 km/h. The Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are expected to remain calm, with gentle waves measuring up to two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.
