Top seed Aryna Sabalenka has advanced to the final of the US Open, aiming for her third consecutive title, following a decisive victory over American third seed Jessica Pegula. According to Gulf Times, Sabalenka secured her place in the final with a straight-sets win, finishing the match 7-5, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The 28-year-old Belarusian is now on the brink of joining tennis legends Chris Evert and Serena Williams as the only women to win three consecutive US Open titles. Sabalenka showcased her formidable skills, dominating Pegula with a powerful service game and aggressive groundstrokes throughout the match.

In the final, Sabalenka will face the winner of the semi-final match between second seed Elena Rybakina and fourth seed Coco Gauff, who previously defeated Sabalenka in the 2023 final. Following her impressive performance against Pegula, Sabalenka is expected to enter the final with significant confidence.

Sabalenka expressed her satisfaction with her performance, noting her eagerness to win. She delivered an impressive display, hitting seven aces and 29 winners during the match. The first set was tightly contested, with both players serving well until Sabalenka broke Pegula’s serve in the 12th game to take the set.

In the second set, Sabalenka maintained her momentum, capitalising on Pegula’s second serve vulnerabilities. She broke Pegula early to establish a 3-1 lead and continued to apply pressure. The set remained on serve until the eighth game, when Pegula faltered, allowing Sabalenka to secure match point. The match concluded with another powerful forehand from Sabalenka, sealing her victory.

As the tournament progresses, all eyes will be on Sabalenka as she seeks to make history with a third consecutive US Open title.
