Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, graced the opening of the fifth edition of the Arab Awards Forum. This event, organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award (MBRKA), highlights the significance of recognizing and celebrating intellectual achievements in the Arab world.

The two-day forum gathered notable Arab intellectuals and scientists, along with representatives from leading regional awards. In his opening speech, His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Secretary-General of MBRKA and CEO of MBRF, remarked that Dubai’s hosting of such a significant event reinforces its standing as a global hub for knowledge and intellectual exchange. He highlighted how the Forum supports Arab awards, enhancing their operational frameworks to ensure they keep pace with global developments.

His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Alsebail, Chairman of the Arab Awards Forum and Secretary-General of the King Faisal Prize, also spoke highly of MBRKA’s role in hosting this Forum. The Forum kicked off with a ceremony recognizing government institutions that significantly contribute to the promotion of Arab awards. These institutions received the Arab Awards Forum Plaque, signed by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the Honorary President of the Forum.
Honorees included the Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Supreme Council for Culture in Egypt, and the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, among others—all of which play crucial roles in supporting various awards and initiatives that celebrate creativity.
Innovative Database Launch
In collaboration with the Arab Thought Foundation, the Forum introduced the ‘Arab Awards Platform.’ This new initiative serves as a comprehensive Arabic database that catalogs all Arab awards meeting specific criteria. It provides detailed insights into each award, including classification by awarding body, field, target category, and monetary value. This platform acts as a vital resource for researchers, nominees, and media, and enhances cooperation among awards by allowing them to document their experiences.
Engaging Discussions and Future Prospects
The first day of the Forum also included a General Assembly meeting where members reviewed the Forum’s journey since its inception and discussed future cooperation prospects. Specialised seminars featuring a select group of thinkers and experts further enriched the dialogue, solidifying the Forum’s role as a significant event in the Arab intellectual calendar.
