Saudi Arabia is set to illuminate the skies with spectacular drone and fireworks displays across major cities as part of the celebrations for its 96th National Day. Organised by the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), these events will take place on Wednesday evening, showcasing formations inspired by the national identity alongside vibrant fireworks.
The festivities will be held in cities including Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar, with celebrations planned nationwide. The displays are part of a broader initiative to mark the national occasion, which will see events across all regions of the Kingdom.
Details of the Celebrations
In Riyadh, the drone and fireworks displays are scheduled for 9:00 p.m. at Boulevard City, while Al Khobar will host its celebrations at the Al Khobar Corniche at the same time. Jeddah’s festivities will kick off earlier at 7:00 p.m. at Jeddah Promenade.
Additionally, fireworks will light up the skies over six other cities at 9:00 p.m. These include Madinah, where the display will occur at King Fahd Central Park; Hail at Al Salam Park; and Arar at the Public Park. Other locations include Al Baha, Tabuk, and Buraidah, each hosting their own fireworks displays at prominent parks.
National Pride on Display
As the Kingdom prepares for National Day, cities have already begun to showcase their festive spirit. Riyadh’s landmarks and building facades are adorned with green lights, reflecting the colours of the Saudi flag and enhancing the celebratory atmosphere. Major roads, including King Fahd Road, are also illuminated, contributing to the city’s vibrant nighttime scene.
In Madinah, a celebration at the King Salman International Convention Center, attended by officials and residents, featured patriotic performances and recitations that highlighted the significance of National Day and the legacy of King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud.
Commemorating Unification
Saudi Arabia’s National Day, celebrated on September 23, marks the unification of the Kingdom under King Abdulaziz in 1932. This day serves as a reminder of the Kingdom’s rich history and the ongoing efforts to foster national pride and unity among its citizens.
