Date:

Major Housing Initiative for Emirati Citizens

The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) and various developers, has launched a significant initiative aimed at providing over 40,000 homes and residential plots for Emirati citizens. This ambitious project includes the construction of 25,244 housing units and 14,876 residential plots, with a total investment of AED106 billion (approximately $28.9 billion).

Comprehensive Community Development

The new housing projects are designed to meet international standards and will create fully integrated communities. These developments will feature essential amenities such as commercial centers, mosques, schools, public parks, green spaces, and sports facilities. The focus on sustainability, family stability, and overall well-being is central to the design of these communities.

Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the importance of the housing sector as a national priority, highlighting it as a strategic investment in building a stable society prepared for future challenges. He underscored the necessity for collaboration between government entities and private sector partners to create modern communities that offer comfort, dignity, and social cohesion for Emiratis.

Key Projects Across Abu Dhabi

The initiative encompasses several key projects across different regions:

Abu Dhabi City

In the capital, six residential communities will provide a total of 14,444 housing units, with a combined investment of AED55.38 billion (around $15.1 billion). This development is being undertaken by prominent developers such as Aldar Properties, Bloom Holding, and Modon Properties.

Al Ain

Five residential communities in Al Ain will contribute 10,480 housing units at a cost of AED36.95 billion (approximately $10.1 billion). This project is a collaborative effort involving Aldar, Bloom, Wahat Al Zaweya, and IMKAN.

Al Dhafra Region

In the Al Dhafra Region, two projects located in Al Sila and Madinat Zayed will provide 320 homes, with a total investment of AED1.59 billion (around $433 million), also managed by Aldar.

These new developments complement ongoing projects like the West Baniyas Housing Project and the Yas Canal Housing Project, further enhancing the housing landscape in Abu Dhabi.

Future Outlook

With these recent agreements, the total number of homes and residential plots being developed by the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority will rise to approximately 45,000, all scheduled for completion by 2029. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring a dignified quality of life for its citizens while supporting sustainable development goals.

Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, stated that these agreements align with the President’s vision to strengthen family and social stability by providing housing that meets the aspirations of citizens. This initiative also coincides with the Year of Community, which aims to foster deeper family bonds and promote social cohesion.

Innovative Reservation System

To streamline the process, Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, announced the implementation of a map-based reservation system. This system will allow citizens to select their preferred residential areas, ensuring a more personalized approach to housing allocation. All housing units are expected to be allocated to citizens within two years.

Maysarah Mahmoud Eid, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre, highlighted that these agreements showcase the government’s dedication to providing a dignified quality of life for citizens while advancing sustainable development initiatives.

This comprehensive housing initiative not only addresses the immediate needs of Emirati citizens but also lays the groundwork for a more sustainable and cohesive future for communities across Abu Dhabi.
