The DIFC Innovation Hub and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) have launched the Geospatial Accelerator, a program designed to enhance the UAE’s space sector by connecting space and Earth Observation (EO) technologies with artificial intelligence and commercial expertise. Announced on Friday, this initiative aims to bolster the sector’s contribution to the national economy and align with the National Space Strategy 2030.
The Geospatial Accelerator, part of the Space for Earth Labs platform, was introduced during the Dubai Airshow in November 2025. It has already attracted significant interest, receiving 73 applications from 24 countries. After a rigorous selection process, ten scale-ups were chosen, including notable firms such as AtlasAI, FlyPix AI, and GHGSat. These companies will collaborate with various UAE public and private sector organizations to develop proof-of-concept pilots addressing real operational challenges.
Connecting Innovation with Real-World Applications
Based at the DIFC Innovation Hub, the Space for Earth Labs initiative serves as a central hub for companies looking to leverage space-derived data for commercial and public sector applications. The selected scale-ups will work alongside organizations like the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure and Dubai Civil Defence to tackle issues in maritime safety, infrastructure, and public safety.
“The Geospatial Accelerator demonstrates how Dubai can turn frontier technology into economic opportunity by bringing together space, artificial intelligence, finance, and industry around real-world challenges,” said Mohammad Alblooshi, CEO of the DIFC Innovation Hub. This initiative not only aims to foster innovation but also to create a robust ecosystem that supports the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to double the size of the city’s economy over the next decade.
Market Potential and Future Prospects
The global Earth Observation market is currently valued at approximately $440 billion, with the AI-in-geospatial sector projected to grow at an annual rate of 19.5% through 2028. Major tech companies, including AWS and Google, are investing heavily in AI-enabled environmental applications, indicating a strong market demand for such technologies.
“Through the Geospatial Accelerator, MBRSC is helping create a direct pathway to translate Earth Observation data into actionable insights,” stated Saeed AlMansoori, Director of the Remote Sensing Department at MBRSC. This initiative is expected to expand the practical use of space-derived data across various sectors, further supporting the UAE’s strategic objectives.
Selected scale-ups will showcase their proof-of-concept solutions at the upcoming Dubai AI Festival in October 2026, providing a platform to present innovations to a global audience, including venture capitalists and government agencies. This event will further highlight Dubai’s commitment to becoming a leader in the converging fields of space and artificial intelligence.
