Parkin Secures Major Contract for Parking Management in Dubai Sports City

Dubai’s vibrant landscape continues to evolve with the announcement that Parkin, the city’s largest paid public parking operator, has landed a significant 10-year contract to manage parking facilities in the bustling Dubai Sports City. This move, reported by Khaleej Times, is set to enhance parking availability in one of the city’s key areas, catering to a growing population and increasing visitor traffic.

Expanding Parking Capacity

One of the most noteworthy aspects of the contract is the ambitious plan to deliver a total of 3,100 new parking spaces. These new facilities will be developed across a mix of paved, unpaved, and unsurfaced areas, ensuring flexibility in accommodating the needs of both residents and visitors. Construction is slated to kick off in the fourth quarter of 2025, with notable progress expected. The first batch of 900 paved slots is anticipated to be operational by December 2025, which will certainly ease the parking crunch in this busy district.

Following this initial phase, work on the remaining 2,200 spaces will be initiated in January 2026, with a comprehensive completion date set for the end of the same year. This staged approach ensures that parking solutions are rolled out efficiently, ready to meet the demands of the area as they arise.

Revised Parking Fees Structure

As part of the managed parking system, fees will be implemented from Monday to Saturday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Motorists can expect competitive pricing, with rates set at AED 2 per hour or AED 20 for an entire day. Furthermore, for those who frequent the area, an annual seasonal card will be available for AED 2,800. This pricing strategy will remain fixed for the first three years of the contract, allowing users to plan their budgets accordingly, with potential adjustments to follow thereafter.

Financial Projections and Investment

Parkin’s investment in this project is substantial, with an estimated cost ranging from AED 18 million to AED 20 million. The company is optimistic about its financial outlook, projecting revenues of AED 40 million to AED 50 million over the duration of the contract. Their strategy indicates a break-even point anticipated within four years, allowing for sustainable growth while enhancing service delivery in the region.

To support the new infrastructure, Parkin will also be responsible for all necessary civil works. This includes not just the development of new parking spaces but also road construction and transforming unpaved parking lots into more functional paved areas. This comprehensive approach underscores the operator’s commitment to enhancing overall user experience.

Comprehensive Maintenance and Management

An essential component of this contract is the ongoing maintenance of the completed facilities. Parkin has committed to overseeing the extensive network of parking spaces, roads, and footpaths throughout the duration of the contract. This aspect of the project is expected to be funded internally and will ensure that the facilities remain in optimal condition for users. Importantly, maintenance expenses are projected to have a negligible financial impact on the overall operation.

By securing this contract, Parkin is not only boosting its own standing in the public parking sector but also contributing significantly to the infrastructural development and betterment of services in Dubai Sports City. As the area continues to grow and attract attention, these newly developed facilities should provide essential support to both its residents and visitors alike.
