For the academic year 2024-25, an impressive 42% of the international student population in Dubai’s higher education institutions are from India, according to statistics from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Out of approximately 42,026 students enrolled across 41 private institutions, a significant number hail from international university campuses, showcasing the city’s growing appeal for global education.

The trend in student enrollments is striking, with a dramatic 20.4% increase in 2024-25 compared to the previous year’s rate of 12.3%. The proportion of international students has also risen, moving from 25.3% to 29.4%. This uptick reflects Dubai’s expanding attractiveness as a destination for higher education. Among international students, business studies reign supreme, accounting for 54% of enrollments. Information technology and engineering each attract 11% of students, while fields like media and design comprise 6%, and humanities account for 3%. Notably, more than half (53%) of the students are pursuing bachelor’s degrees, while 37% are engaged in master’s programs.

Previously, individuals were required to invest AED 2 million (approximately USD 545,000) to qualify. The current model, which entails a one-time fee of AED 100,000 (around USD 27,000), offers a more approachable pathway for various professionals, including educators, scientists, digital creators, and maritime experts.
