DIFC sets new targets for 1,000 AI companies and 5,000 jobs by 2030

Published:

The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has set ambitious new targets to attract 1,000 artificial intelligence (AI) companies and create 5,000 jobs in the AI sector by 2030. This announcement follows the early achievement of its previous goal of 500 AI companies, which was reached two years ahead of schedule, as stated by Arif Amiri, CEO of DIFC Authority, during the Dubai AI Festival 2026.

Amiri emphasized that AI is fundamentally transforming business operations and economic competition, stating, “The question is no longer whether AI will transform economies, but how that transformation will be shaped.” He noted that Dubai’s commitment to its digital economy began over 25 years ago, focusing on technology clusters and digitizing government services.

Expanding AI Ambitions

As of mid-2026, DIFC reported 10,018 active registered companies, with a notable increase of 2,318 new companies in the past year. The number of regulated financial services firms also rose to 1,134, reflecting a 16% year-on-year growth. Dubai has maintained its position as a leading global financial center, ranking ninth in the Global Financial Centres Index.

Amiri clarified that the development of DIFC was not merely about establishing a financial hub but about shaping the future of finance, transitioning from traditional services to encompass FinTech, digital assets, and now AI. He described AI as integral to economic infrastructure, influencing various aspects of business operations, including regulation and customer service.

Transforming Customer Service

Currently, AI supports over 30% of customer service activities within DIFC, with plans to increase this to 50% by the end of 2026 and achieve full AI integration by the end of 2027. Amiri stressed the importance of translating ambition into action, asserting that organizations that responsibly deploy AI at scale will lead the future of the technology.

DIFC’s Native AI program, launched earlier in 2026, aims to generate $3.5 billion in economic benefits and create 25,000 jobs by embedding AI into enterprise workflows and compliance systems. The program also includes initiatives in robotics, autonomous mobility, and intelligent infrastructure.

Raising the Campus Target

The Dubai AI Campus has been pivotal in this expansion. Initially announced in June 2023, the campus aimed to attract over 500 AI and Web3 companies and create more than 3,000 jobs by 2028. With the early achievement of its initial target, DIFC has now raised its goal to 1,000 AI companies and 5,000 jobs by 2030.

Amiri highlighted that competition in AI will extend beyond technology to include talent, capital, and trust. The Dubai AI Festival serves as a platform to connect entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers, fostering an environment where technology can enhance human potential and innovation can thrive.

As Dubai’s digital and financial strategies converge around technology and AI, the DIFC’s initiatives reflect a commitment to creating a robust ecosystem that supports innovation and economic growth.

According to Economy Middle East, the DIFC’s proactive approach positions it as a leader in the global AI landscape, aiming to redefine the future of finance and technology.
