Aster Volunteers Strengthens Mobile Healthcare Network to 76 Units with Launch of 5 New Units in Northern India
Expansion of Mobile Medical Units
Aster Volunteers, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Aster DM Healthcare, has announced the deployment of five new Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in key metropolitan areas of Northern India, including Ranchi, Kanpur, Bhopal, Jaipur, and Bhubaneswar. This initiative brings the total number of MMUs in Aster Volunteers’ global fleet to 76, with 54 units now operational in India. The expansion aims to enhance healthcare delivery, particularly for underserved communities.
Focus on Vulnerable Populations
The newly launched mobile units are designed to provide essential healthcare services directly to urban poor and vulnerable populations, including street dwellers, slum residents, the elderly, and the homeless. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve last-mile healthcare delivery through preventive care, non-communicable disease (NCD) screening, and early diagnosis at the community level. Previously, Aster Volunteers, in collaboration with Thanal (Daya Rehabilitation Trust), had deployed five units in cities such as Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Patna, and Kolkata.
Leadership and Collaboration
The launch event was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare; Ms. Alisha Moopen, Deputy Managing Director; Mr. Abdul Nazer, Trustee of Daya Rehabilitation Trust; and Mr. Filsor Babu, Regional Head of Karnataka for Malabar Group. Dr. Azad Moopen emphasized the organization’s commitment to ensuring quality healthcare reaches those in need, stating that the mobile units represent a significant step toward advancing equitable healthcare access.
Commitment to Sustainable Healthcare
Mr. M.P. Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group, expressed pride in partnering with Aster Volunteers and Thanal to promote accessible healthcare for underserved communities. He highlighted the importance of operational sustainability and the long-term impact of their collaborative efforts, aiming to create a healthcare model that restores dignity and strengthens lives.
Services Offered by Mobile Units
The mobile medical units will provide a range of services, including free primary consultations, NCD screenings, maternal and child health services, health education, and referrals for advanced care. Each unit is equipped with medical-grade interiors to ensure safe and efficient healthcare delivery.
