Bangkok authorities declared a flood disaster on Saturday after nearly 48 hours of relentless rain resulted in significant flooding, with many areas experiencing waist-deep water. While not every district was submerged, all 50 districts were designated as flood disaster zones to facilitate a swift response from emergency services.
As of Saturday, over 84,000 individuals across 21 provinces in Thailand were reported to be affected by the flooding, particularly in the central region. The government has been proactive in sending emergency alerts to residents via mobile phones to ensure their safety.
Traffic in parts of Bangkok has been severely disrupted, with vehicles moving slowly along inundated roads. Reports indicate that some motorcyclists have resorted to pushing their bikes through the water. Additionally, certain regional bus services connecting Bangkok to eastern provinces have been temporarily suspended due to the adverse weather conditions.
