Dubai: Residents across the UAE received an emergency alert on their mobile phones on Friday after the UAE Ministry of Interior issued a public safety notification advising people to take precautionary measures due to a potential missile threat.

The UAE Ministry of Interior’s initial message stated: “Due to the current situation and potential missile threats, immediately seek a safe place in the nearest secure building. Stay away from windows, doors and open areas. Await further instructions.”

A short while later, the Ministry issued a second notification confirming that the situation was safe and advising residents that they could resume their normal activities. “We reassure you that the situation is currently safe. You may resume your normal activities while continuing to remain cautious and take the necessary precautions,” the Ministry said.
