H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Accelerates Dubai’s Innovation with World’s First AI-Designed Park

Dubai is set to unveil the “world’s first AI-designed park” as part of a series of innovative projects announced by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister. This initiative, spearheaded by Dubai Municipality, aims to enhance the city’s urban landscape and promote sustainable development.

Innovative Urban Projects

In addition to the AI-designed park, the newly approved projects include the ‘Dubai Falcon Market’ and the ‘Dubai Creek Lighting’. These initiatives underscore Dubai’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies and urban design to create human-centric spaces that foster national identity and support the creative economy.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the importance of preparing cities for the future, stating that resilient urban environments and integrated facilities are essential for enriching urban experiences that reflect cultural identity and societal aspirations. He noted that the ‘Dubai Falcon Market’ will celebrate Emirati heritage while the ‘Dubai Creek Lighting’ project will transform the historic heart of Dubai, providing a unique nighttime experience.

AI-Powered Park Design Challenge

The AI-Powered Park Design Challenge aims to create an innovative model for designing parks and public spaces using artificial intelligence. This initiative will utilize data analytics to better understand community needs and public space usage patterns.

Targeting designers, urban specialists, university students, and startups, the challenge will involve a collaborative evaluation process that combines international expertise with community participation. Winning designs will be selected by a panel of renowned designers and senior Dubai Government officials, with local residents also participating in the final selection.

Dubai Falcon Market

The ‘Dubai Falcon Market’ will be the first integrated and specialized falcon market in the region. Its design will draw inspiration from the cultural significance of the falcon in Emirati heritage. This project is part of a broader strategy to develop Dubai’s rural and desert areas, enhancing their environmental and heritage character while creating sustainable destinations.

The market’s architectural design is inspired by the wings of a falcon, symbolizing strength and connection. It will feature specialized retail outlets for falcons and related supplies, spaces for cultural events, a fully integrated veterinary clinic, and various services for visitors. The project will cover approximately 50,000 square feet and is estimated to cost around AED 50 million.

Dubai Creek Lighting Project

The ‘Dubai Creek Lighting’ project aims to develop a fully integrated nighttime experience across Dubai Creek through an innovative lighting system. This system will enhance the visual identity of the area and revitalize waterfronts and historical districts after sunset.

The lighting will cover promenades, creek entrances, heritage markets, building façades, and waterfront walkways, creating a vibrant and safe urban environment. The project seeks to transform the creek into a premier nighttime destination that highlights architectural and historical beauty while enhancing night-time activities and interactive experiences. It is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.

Collaboration with Leading Architects

Dubai Municipality’s Urban Planning and Design Lab continues to engage prominent international architects to develop landmark projects that reflect the emirate’s future vision while reinforcing local identity. Recently, the Municipality announced a collaboration with renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma to develop the ‘Reservoir Park’ project, marking Kuma’s first park project in Dubai.

The design vision aims to harmonize nature, people, and architecture, blending innovation with local cultural identity. These initiatives align with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aim to elevate the quality of life and reinforce Dubai’s position as a global leader in innovation and sustainable urban living.
