UAE Government Accelerates Agentic AI Transformation with Major Workshop Involving 300 Participants from 50 Federal Entities

In a significant move towards modernizing governmental operations, the UAE Government convened a specialized workshop in Dubai, focusing on the development and implementation of Agentic AI across its sectors. This initiative aligns with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who announced a transformative goal to transition 50 percent of government services and operations to Agentic AI models within the next two years. The workshop saw participation from over 300 representatives from 50 federal entities.

Workshop Objectives and Structure

Organized by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the workshop aimed to initiate the implementation tracks for the new government system project. Key objectives included activating government services, mapping out operations across federal entities, and preparing for the application of Agentic AI models. A crucial aspect of the workshop was to establish a monitoring framework for implementation over a 90-day period.

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Agentic AI Project Executive Committee, emphasized that the workshop reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. Al Gergawi noted that the UAE is reinforcing its global leadership by adopting best practices in government operations through the development of flexible work models that leverage Agentic AI capabilities. Identifying Key Areas for Transformation

Maryam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary General of the Cabinet, and Head of the Operations and Institutional Support Track of the Agentic AI Project, outlined the government’s efforts to eliminate barriers and transform operational methodologies. She indicated that the initial phase involved mapping operations across federal ministries to identify priority areas for conversion to Agentic AI models.

During the workshop, sessions focused on ten key operational areas, with participation from over 140 officials and specialists. These areas included human resources, procurement, financial affairs, legislative affairs, internal audits, digital transformation, technical support, institutional communication, facilities management, and shared operational processes.

Framework for Implementation

Mohamed Rashid bin Taliah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Government Knowledge Exchange and Head of the Services Track, presented a model for the next phase of government work. This model aims to assist government entities in selecting priority services and operations for Agentic AI implementation, ensuring a significant impact on both individuals and businesses while enhancing service quality and efficiency.

Bin Taliah expressed confidence in the capabilities of government teams, noting their expertise and innovative spirit as essential for meaningful progress in deploying Agentic AI. He remarked on the UAE’s consistent ability to transform ambition into tangible achievements, viewing challenges as motivation to maintain leadership in developing inspiring government models.

Criteria for Selection and Monitoring

Participants discussed various criteria for selecting priority operations for transformation. Factors included the volume and frequency of operations, annual transaction numbers, and the nature of beneficiaries. Readiness for transformation was assessed based on the clarity of procedures, availability of up-to-date data, and the level of automation, alongside expected impacts on service quality and customer satisfaction.

The workshop’s framework mandates that each government entity select a specific service or operation for Agentic AI implementation, to be launched within 90 days. The process will unfold in three main phases: an exploration phase to identify the appropriate service, a design phase to develop the target journey, and an implementation planning phase focused on defining application requirements.

Over the three-month period, regular monitoring of the implementation will occur, ensuring that government teams receive the necessary support and that selected services and operations are launched within the established timeframe.
