Dubai Recreation Services: Access Beach Camping, Chalets, Fishing Permits, and Sports Fields

Residents of Dubai can now easily access a variety of recreational services, including beach camping permits, chalet rentals at Al Mamzar Park, fishing licenses, and sports field bookings. These services are managed by the Dubai Municipality, which has been enhancing the quality of life in the emirate since its establishment in 1954.

The Municipality aims to transform into a “globally pioneering municipality” by 2030, providing the best quality of life for citizens, residents, and visitors. This commitment underscores the importance of recreational services in promoting community well-being.

Permit for Recreational Line and Hook Fishing

Residents can obtain a recreational fishing permit for line and hook fishing in designated coastal areas of Dubai. This permit is valid for one year and can be renewed under the same conditions. The fishing areas include:

  • Khor Al Mamzar
  • Al Maktoum Bridge (Bur Dubai area)
  • Creek Park
  • Al Garhoud Bridge (Deira area)
  • Jumeirah (breakwater)
  • Umm Suqeim (breakwater)
  • Al Sufouh beaches (breakwater)

The service completion time for this permit is three working days. Eligibility is limited to individuals residing in Dubai, who must provide proof of residency. Notably, children under 18 can fish without a permit if accompanied by an adult.

Required documents include:

  • Tenancy contract
  • Residential property ownership
  • Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) bill

The application process is free of charge and can be completed through the Dubai Municipality website or the DubaiNow app.

No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Activities in Natural Reserves

A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is required for activities in Dubai’s natural reserves, including wildlife translocation, filming, and scientific research. This certificate grants access to eight natural reserves:

  • Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary

  • Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve
  • Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve
  • Hatta Mountain Reserve
  • Al Wohoosh Desert Conservation Reserve
  • Jebel Nazwa Conservation Reserve
  • Ghaf Nazwa Conservation Reserve

The NOC is issued exclusively by the Dubai Municipality’s Natural Reserves Section. The processing time varies: three working days for tourist groups and educational institutions, and five working days for other categories.

For organizations, an official letter requesting the service is required. Filming activities necessitate additional documentation, including a filming permit from the Dubai Film and TV Commission.

The NOC application is free of charge and can also be submitted via the Dubai Municipality website or the DubaiNow app.
