Dubai Municipality Unveils Comprehensive Guide for Efficient Pest Control, Sewage Management, and Waste Disposal Services

Dubai Municipality has released an extensive guide aimed at assisting residents with various essential services, including pest control, sewage management, and waste disposal. Established in 1954, the Municipality plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents, visitors, and business owners in the emirate. By 2030, it aims to be recognized as a leading global municipality, committed to providing the highest standards of living.

The guide outlines a range of services available to residents, ensuring they can easily access the necessary support for maintaining their homes and environments.

Pest Control Services

Residents can apply for pest control services targeting two main categories: disease-transmitting pests, such as mosquitoes and rodents, and poisonous pests, including scorpions and snakes. The service completion time varies, with one working day required for poisonous pests and four working days for other types.

The service is provided at no cost. Residents can initiate a request by calling the Municipality’s call center at 800 900 or through the Dubai Municipality app or the DubaiNow app. The application process is straightforward, requiring users to log in with their UAE PASS, navigate to the relevant service section, and submit their request.

Veterinary Parasite Control

For those residing on farms, the Municipality offers external parasite control services. This service involves spraying farms and pens to eliminate parasites that pose health risks to both humans and animals. The service is completed within three working days and costs Dh1 per head.

Applications can be made via the Municipality’s call center, app, or website. Users must log in with their UAE PASS, provide necessary details, and pay the fees online.

Agricultural Pest Control for Home Gardens

Homeowners can also access agricultural pest control services for their gardens, excluding areas designated for real estate development and free zones. This service includes the use of chemical or organic pesticides to manage agricultural pests. Residents can request this service twice a month, with a minimum gap of 10 to 15 days between applications if pests persist.

The service is free of charge, and residents can apply through the Municipality’s call center or apps. Notifications regarding service dates will be communicated via phone within seven days.

Bulky Waste Disposal

Dubai Municipality provides a convenient service for the disposal of bulky waste items, including furniture and electronic waste. This service is available throughout Dubai, excluding development areas and free zones. The completion time for waste collection is three working days, and the service is offered free of charge.

Residents can request this service by contacting the Municipality’s call center or through the Municipality’s website and apps. Additionally, they can interact with Fares, the Municipality’s chatbot, via WhatsApp for assistance.

Waste Container Management

Residents can also request approval to relocate waste containers or acquire new waste storage containers for residential villas and events. This service is limited to UAE citizens and building consultants, with a completion time of seven working days. Required documents include photographs of the current container location and the land number.

The service is provided at no cost, and applications can be submitted through the Municipality’s call center or online platforms.

Environmental Testing Services

The Municipality offers accredited testing services for various environmental samples, including groundwater and wastewater. These tests comply with ISO 17025 standards, ensuring international specifications are met. The duration for service completion varies based on the type of test requested.

Eligibility for this service extends to UAE citizens, residents, and visitors. Samples must be collected in sterile containers provided by the Dubai Central Laboratory. Fees vary depending on the test, with an additional Dh20 knowledge and innovation fee applicable.

Sewage Management Services

For residents in remote areas not connected to the public sewage network, the Municipality facilitates the withdrawal and transportation of sewage water. The process for a single septic tank takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. This service is free and available to UAE citizens who own and reside in the property.

Applications can be made through the Municipality’s website or apps, with a completion time of three working days.

Sewerage Network Connection

Buildings and homes can connect to the sewerage network through a service that issues completion certificates upon connection. The completion time varies, with small networks taking 45 working days and larger networks requiring up to 90 working days.

Eligibility includes governmental departments, building contractors, and UAE citizens who own land. Required documents include the plot number and landlord’s name, with costs associated with inspections and connections.

Approval for Sewerage Line Diversion or Disconnection

Residents can obtain approval to divert or disconnect sewerage or stormwater lines during construction or demolition. This service is essential for compliance during building activities and is managed by Municipality contractors. The completion time for diversion can range from 30 days to a year, while disconnection typically takes 30 working days.

Eligibility criteria include UAE citizens, governmental entities, and real estate developers. Costs are based on the contract value plus supervision fees.
