Dubai Municipality Unveils Khor Al Mamzar Beach, Setting New Standard for Family-Friendly Urban Tourism

Dubai has officially launched Khor Al Mamzar Beach, a new waterfront destination aimed at enhancing the emirate’s family-friendly tourism offerings. This initiative aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to expand the city’s beaches and infrastructure in response to increasing demand. The opening of Khor Al Mamzar Beach marks the first phase of the Al Mamzar Beaches development project, part of a broader vision to position Dubai as the world’s best city to live in by 2040.

A Significant Addition to Dubai’s Leisure Landscape

Khor Al Mamzar Beach is now accessible to residents, tourists, and visitors, representing a substantial enhancement to Dubai’s leisure and tourism portfolio. This new destination underscores the emirate’s commitment to providing world-class public spaces that improve quality of life while fostering long-term urban and tourism growth.

The beach was inaugurated by His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, alongside several Directors General from various Dubai government entities. The ceremony attracted local residents from Al Mamzar and Deira, media representatives, and influencers, featuring community-focused entertainment and interactive activities.

Spanning 2.75 million square feet, Khor Al Mamzar Beach offers an integrated beachfront experience that combines leisure, sports, and relaxation. The development is supported by advanced infrastructure, marking a significant advancement in beach planning and positioning the site among the leading waterfront experiences in the region.

Vision for Quality Urban Spaces

Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita emphasized that the development of Dubai’s infrastructure reflects the leadership’s vision to create high-quality destinations for both residents and visitors. He noted that the emirate continues to prioritize human wellbeing through integrated recreational and service facilities that enhance quality of life and bolster Dubai’s global appeal.

He stated, “Khor Al Mamzar Beach reflects our vision to transform Dubai’s beaches into globally iconic urban and tourism destinations, delivering premium experiences centred on comfort and wellbeing. Our objective is to create some of the world’s most advanced and attractive beachfront destinations, reinforcing Dubai’s appeal, sustainability, and quality of life while offering exceptional experiences for residents and visitors.”

Enhancing Coastal Infrastructure

Badr Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, described the project as one of the municipality’s flagship strategic initiatives aimed at improving coastal infrastructure and reshaping the beachfront into a vibrant, all-day destination. He highlighted that the opening signifies a milestone in delivering high-quality public beaches that combine design excellence, integrated experiences, and community engagement.

Dubai Municipality has prioritized the development of Al Mamzar Beaches to meet rising visitor demand, which is projected to reach 7 million annually following the completion of the second phase at Al Mamzar Corniche. The destination will feature a wide range of service, leisure, and tourism facilities designed to provide high-quality experiences while ensuring accessibility for People of Determination.

Comprehensive Transformations and Features

Khor Al Mamzar Beach has undergone a comprehensive transformation, including an expansion of the swimming shoreline to 3.6 kilometers, representing a 128 percent increase. A 300-meter night beach operating 24/7 has also been introduced, allowing continuous access throughout the day and evening.

The beach features the region’s first floating walkway, over 5.5 kilometers of running, walking, and cycling tracks, an outdoor gym, beach volleyball courts, padel courts, and a variety of marine and water-based activities such as kayaking and other water sports.

The sandy beachfront area has increased by 110 percent to 182,000 square meters, while public facilities have expanded by 400 percent to a total of 20. The development includes eight recreational amenities and 19 food and beverage outlets, marking a 950 percent increase, with further investment opportunities in the pipeline.

Safety and Sustainability Initiatives

In terms of safety, Dubai Municipality has enhanced infrastructure capacity by 340 percent through an integrated safety system that includes 12 lifeguard towers and 12 emergency call points.

As part of its commitment to public-private partnerships and the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Dubai Municipality will offer various leasing and investment opportunities, inviting operators and entrepreneurs to contribute to the long-term sustainability of the destination.

Al Mamzar Beaches are part of a broader AED 3 billion beachfront development program under Dubai’s public beach development master plan. This program encompasses projects at Al Mamzar Corniche and Jumeirah 1, as well as planned upgrades at Jumeirah 2, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, and Jebel Ali Beach.

The project supports the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 by enhancing public spaces, promoting healthy lifestyles, and supporting community wellbeing. It also aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, positioning Al Mamzar Beaches as a next-generation model for integrated beachfront development in Dubai.
