Dubai’s General Network of Government Communication convened at Emirates Towers to assess its coordinated media response to recent regional events. The meeting, held under the auspices of the General Secretariat of The Executive Council of Dubai, focused on evaluating best practices and enhancing the effectiveness of communication strategies.

Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri commended the General Network of Government Communication for its effective management of media responses to recent regional developments. Al Marri noted that efforts were sustained around the clock from the onset of recent events. A fully integrated team was mobilized, comprising members from the Dubai Media Council, the Government of Dubai Media Office, the Dubai Press Club, Brand Dubai, and Dubai Media Incorporated. Operations were guided by strict performance benchmarks, continuously monitoring effectiveness across key indicators such as information dissemination speed and reach.

Sabah Salem Al Shamsi, Assistant Secretary General of Government Communication and General Secretariat Affairs, stated that the exemplary media management showcased Dubai’s capability to control its media narrative. This led to a swift transition from risk analysis to global acknowledgment of Dubai’s excellence in effective response.

The meeting included a presentation on recent developments in media regulation and the Dubai Media Council’s role in supporting media professionals. Rashid Al Marri, CEO of the Media Regulatory Office at the Dubai Media Council, discussed ongoing efforts to develop regulatory frameworks that support media professionals while combating misinformation. He emphasized the importance of adhering to professional and ethical standards.
Al Marri also mentioned the expedited rollout of a new system for issuing temporary media permits, facilitating organized coverage by local and international media, and supporting journalists arriving from abroad.

During the meeting, Hend Fekri, Director of Strategic Media Relations at the Government of Dubai Media Office, outlined key elements of effective media management during this period. She highlighted the rapid pace of developments and the high volume of content across social media, which often includes misinformation from unverified accounts.
Fekri noted that the response was anchored in proactive planning, with continuously updated core messaging delivered in multiple languages. Close coordination among government, semi-government, federal entities, and the private sector further strengthened the ability to respond in real time. Continuous monitoring and rapid responses to misleading narratives were crucial in limiting rumors and reinforcing factual information.
Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, emphasized the role of soft power in enhancing government communication, particularly during crises. She pointed out that the unique regional developments necessitated creative storytelling to effectively amplify Dubai’s narrative, ensuring broad reach and positive impact.
Economic Strategies and Community Resilience
Dr. Moosa Tariq Khoory, Director of Economic Policies and Strategies at the General Secretariat of The Executive Council of Dubai, announced the approval of AED 1 billion in economic support measures by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This initiative reinforces the partnership between the Government of Dubai and the business community while supporting business continuity. Khoory highlighted that Dubai employs an integrated approach to economic management, characterized by close monitoring and regular risk assessments across government entities.
