Abu Dhabi has launched the ‘My Home is Safe’ initiative, a comprehensive training and guidance program aimed at enhancing safety for new homeowners. This initiative, introduced by the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre (ADREC), coincides with the handover of residential units in the Al Mizn Neighbourhood and Al Samha Housing Project.
The program is designed to equip parents, children, and domestic workers with essential skills to prevent domestic accidents and respond effectively to emergencies. Participants will receive theoretical and practical training, culminating in accredited certificates and first aid kits, along with fire extinguishers for their homes.
Training Focus and Objectives
The ‘My Home is Safe’ initiative covers a range of practical topics, including basic firefighting skills, first aid, and strategies for preventing domestic accidents. It also emphasizes the importance of responding to kitchen and electrical fires, proper use of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, and developing home evacuation plans. Additionally, the program promotes child safety practices within the home, ensuring families are well-prepared from the moment they move in.
Brigadier Mohsen Saeed Al Mansoori, Director of the Emergency and Public Safety Sector at ADCDA, stated that the initiative “reflects a proactive approach to establishing prevention as an everyday practice that begins at home.” This sentiment underscores the initiative’s goal of fostering a culture of safety among families in new housing developments.
Alignment with Abu Dhabi’s Vision
Saif Al Balushi, Director of the Real Estate Allocation Department at ADREC, highlighted that the program aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision of building a safer society and improving the quality of life for its residents. By focusing on safety education and preparedness, the initiative aims to create a community that is not only aware of potential hazards but also equipped to handle them effectively.
The launch of this initiative marks a significant step in enhancing community safety and preparedness in Abu Dhabi, particularly as new residential projects continue to develop in the emirate. As families settle into their new homes, the ‘My Home is Safe’ program will play a crucial role in ensuring their safety and well-being.
