Abu Dhabi welcomed an unprecedented 26.6 million visitors in 2025, solidifying its status as a burgeoning global cultural capital and a premier tourism destination. This remarkable achievement, reported by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), highlights the emirate’s increasing international allure and its dedication to sustainable economic growth.
Record Performance in Tourism and Culture
DCT Abu Dhabi reported its most robust performance in culture and tourism to date, with hotel revenues soaring by 19.5% year-on-year to AED 9.1 billion. The number of delegates attending Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) events surged by 40%, reaching 2.2 million, while attendance at culture and leisure events rose by 20% to 4.2 million. This growth was significantly driven by cultural attractions, which drew over 8.6 million visitors to the emirate’s cultural sites and libraries. Notably, Qasr Al Hosn experienced a 22% increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous year.
Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi, emphasized the emirate’s commitment to cultural engagement and tourism. He stated that Abu Dhabi is evolving into a world-leading destination that offers exceptional experiences. The expansion of landmark attractions and the Saadiyat Cultural District has enhanced Abu Dhabi’s distinctiveness on the global stage. Al Hosani noted that the growth reflects a clear vision and collaborative efforts within the tourism ecosystem.
Growth in International Arrivals and Hotel Performance
The emirate recorded 5.9 million hotel guests, with international arrivals from key markets increasing by 10%. India led this growth with a remarkable 22% increase over 2024 figures. This trend underscores how cultural depth is fueling tourism expansion in Abu Dhabi.
The year 2025 marked a significant milestone for DCT Abu Dhabi, with a record 252 culture and leisure events attracting over 4.2 million attendees, a 20% rise from the previous year. Among the highlights was the MOTN Festival, which took place across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, drawing 252,988 visitors.
Major events included Coldplay’s four sold-out concerts at Zayed Sports City, which attracted 193,470 attendees, and the Abu Dhabi T10 cricket tournament, which saw approximately 100,000 attendees. The Liwa Village, a centerpiece of the Liwa International Festival, welcomed over 159,000 visitors. Additionally, popular culture and heritage festivals, such as the Al Hosn Festival and the Traditional Handicrafts Festival, collectively attracted more than 608,000 visitors.
MICE Sector Expansion
The MICE sector experienced even more substantial growth, with the number of events increasing by 37% to 6,600, drawing 2.2 million delegates, a 40% year-on-year increase. Notable gatherings included IDEX/NAVDEX, which attracted around 206,000 attendees, and the inaugural Bridge Summit, which welcomed approximately 39,000 participants. The Advantage Abu Dhabi program, managed by the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau, supported 175 events, bringing in 464,000 delegates, marking a 28% increase from the previous year.
Cultural Engagement and Heritage Preservation
DCT Abu Dhabi has also focused on preserving cultural heritage and fostering creativity, which are essential to the emirate’s identity. The Louvre Abu Dhabi remains one of the most visited cultural sites, recording 1.4 million visitors, while Qasr Al Hosn welcomed over 843,000 visitors, a 22% increase year-on-year.
This surge in visitation was bolstered by 115 programs across Abu Dhabi’s cultural sites, covering heritage, performing arts, education, and community initiatives. Libraries throughout the emirate have enhanced accessibility and participation, playing a crucial role in promoting knowledge and lifelong learning.
Abu Dhabi’s diverse cultural landscape includes over 20 activated cultural sites and libraries, expanding its network of museums, historical sites, and art centers. Key milestones included the reopening of Al Maqta’a Museum and Al Ain Museum, alongside the openings of the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi and the Zayed National Museum.
Strong Financial Performance in the Hospitality Sector
In 2025, Abu Dhabi welcomed 5.9 million hotel guests, reflecting a 2.2% year-on-year increase, along with 338,000 guests across holiday homes and glamping sites. This success was supported by a 10% growth in international guests, particularly from India, Russia, and the UK, raising the emirate’s occupancy rate to 81%.
The demand translated into robust financial results for the hospitality sector. Hotel revenues increased by 19.5% year-on-year, with a 19% rise in Average Daily Rate (ADR) and a 23% increase in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR). The average length of stay across all accommodation types reached 2.9 nights, up 3% year-on-year, with significant contributions from Chinese visitors, who increased their stays by 13%. Hotels accounted for 92% of guest accommodations, with holiday homes and glamping sites making up the remaining 8%.
Key source markets driving the growth included India, which contributed 436,124 hotel guests, marking a 22% increase from 2024, aided by expanded air connectivity. Other significant markets included Russia, the United Kingdom, China, and Saudi Arabia.
Globally, inbound seat capacity increased by 11%, with a two-percentage-point improvement in load factor to 89%, indicating strong demand alongside increased supply. Visitors from Russia, the UK, Germany, and Italy recorded the longest average lengths of stay, reflecting deeper engagement with the emirate’s offerings.
Regional Developments and Future Strategies
The Al Ain and Al Dhafra regions demonstrated notable growth, benefiting from enhanced marketing efforts. Al Ain welcomed 473,100 guests, a 9% year-on-year increase, while Al Dhafra hosted 147,900 guests, up 3%, with hotel occupancy in Al Dhafra surging by 19%. A dedicated strategy for Al Dhafra is set to launch in 2026.
These achievements align with Abu Dhabi’s ambitious Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to foster expansion and strategic development in the emirate’s travel and tourism sector.
