The UAE has officially launched the Cabinet AI Advisor system, aimed at enhancing government decision-making efficiency. This initiative, as reported by Economy Middle East, is designed to leverage artificial intelligence to connect the potential impacts of government decisions across various sectors.
Yaser Alshehhi, an Emirati expert in AI strategy development, highlighted that the system’s capabilities include assessing how decisions in one area, such as transport policy, can affect the economy, sustainability, infrastructure, and society. By identifying these interconnections, AI can help decision-makers anticipate potential consequences more effectively.
AI’s Role in Policymaking
Sultan AlRaeesi, an expert in AI policy and regulation, noted that this initiative underscores the UAE’s leadership in integrating AI into the policymaking process. He emphasized that AI can enhance policy analysis, compare regulatory approaches, and evaluate the potential impacts of proposed decisions. However, he also stressed the importance of establishing clear governance frameworks to ensure transparency, validation, and accountability in AI applications.
Monitoring Implementation and Outcomes
Mohammed Alketbi, an expert in agentic AI, explained that the next phase of AI in government will not only support decision-making but also assist in implementing and monitoring the outcomes of those decisions. He described how agentic AI can break down objectives into tasks, track progress, and identify when further action is necessary, thereby bridging the gap between decisions and their intended results.
Alketbi reassured that while AI will play a supportive role throughout the decision cycle—from analysis to action and monitoring—it will not replace the essential judgment and accountability of ministers.
The Cabinet AI Advisor system features 32 specialized AI advisers tasked with analyzing policies, legislation, strategies, and government systems, marking a significant step forward in the UAE’s commitment to harnessing technology for improved governance.
