Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Launches Exciting Winter Camps

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is rolling out its Winter Camps this December, designed to engage children aged 4 to 14 with dynamic cultural and artistic activities. This month-long initiative aims to inspire creativity and cultural appreciation among the youth, aligning with the Authority’s mission to cultivate young minds.

Al Shindagha Museum Winter Camp

Kicking off from December 15-19 and again from December 22-26, the Al Shindagha Museum Winter Camp invites children on an immersive journey into the UAE’s agricultural heritage. Titled “Nature Adventurers,” this camp emphasizes values like sustainability, teamwork, and community. Participants can look forward to a variety of interactive workshops and outdoor challenges, including themed treasure hunts, the Farm Escape Room Challenge, and even parkour activities.

Young campers will have the chance to meet a local beekeeper, explore the region’s flora and fauna, create their own mini gardens, and prepare traditional Emirati desserts like Batheetha. This rich blend of fun and education is designed to spark curiosity and foster a love for the environment among participants.

Etihad Museum Winter Camp

Simultaneously, the Etihad Museum will also host its Winter Camp during the same dates, introducing children to the foundational visions and achievements of the UAE’s Founding Fathers. Through engaging group challenges and practical sessions, kids will strengthen essential leadership skills such as communication, teamwork, and community involvement.

Activities include collage-making and ceramic workshops, along with an exploration of the cultural significance of falcons and sustainable agriculture practices. Participants will also learn about satellites and the UAE’s significant contributions to space exploration, including efforts related to Mars missions. This program not only educates but also instills a sense of pride in the history and achievements of the UAE.

Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children Winter Camp

The Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children’s Winter Camp, operating in two cycles from December 8-12 and December 15-19, promises an array of educational and creative workshops under the theme “Wonders of the Universe.” Participants can engage in various sessions focused on fine arts, pottery, digital art, and culinary skills.

Exciting activities such as glow candle-making and crafting telescope figurines will allow children to explore their creative instincts. An educational trip to Roboland is also on the agenda, culminating in an art exhibition and theater performance that showcases the incredible works created by the young artists throughout the camp.

Dubai Public Libraries Winter Camp

From December 15-26, the Dubai Public Libraries will host its Winter Camp themed “Winter of Challenge & Creativity.” This unique program blends art, sports, and handcrafts, encouraging children to explore their interests in a supportive environment. The camp will be held across several locations, including Al Safa Art & Design Library, Al Rashidiya Library, and Umm Suqeim Library, providing a diverse learning atmosphere.

Children will be guided by experienced instructors through workshops in areas such as acrylic painting, pottery, 3D art, and sand painting. Engaging in sports challenges and team-based games will help develop focus and teamwork skills. The camp also includes traditional Emirati crafts, such as Sqa’a and Tawi, fostering a deeper connection to local heritage among participants.

Second-Hand Book Fair

Parallel to the Winter Camps, Dubai Culture is hosting a Second-Hand Book Fair at Al Safa Art & Design Library. Open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and until noon on Fridays, this fair will feature a variety of quality books priced between AED 3 to AED 10. The initiative encourages sustainability and community exchange while promoting a culture of reading among residents.

These Winter Camps and the accompanying book fair are excellent opportunities for children to explore their creativity, learn, and engage with their cultural heritage. Children and families are encouraged to participate in these enriching experiences this December!
