Ferjan Dubai Launches Third Al Freej Fridge Campaign, Distributing 2 Million Cold Drinks to Workers Across Dubai

Dubai has witnessed the launch of the third edition of the Al Freej Fridge humanitarian community campaign, spearheaded by Ferjan Dubai in collaboration with the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia) and the UAE Food Bank. This initiative, supported by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), aims to distribute 2 million bottles of cold water, juices, and frozen treats to workers throughout the city, addressing the challenges posed by the intense summer heat.

Campaign Objectives and Target Audience

Running until September 3, the campaign specifically targets cleaning and construction workers, delivery drivers, and those involved in road and landscaping services across Dubai. The initiative reflects the UAE’s deep-rooted culture of generosity and solidarity, emphasizing the community’s appreciation for those who work diligently under challenging conditions.

Role of Key Partners

The UAE Food Bank and Suqia UAE are integral to the success of the Al Freej Fridge campaign. Suqia UAE is supplying substantial quantities of cold bottled water, while the UAE Food Bank is providing access to its warehouses for the storage of beverages and frozen items. Additionally, the UAE Food Bank is deploying refrigerated distribution vehicles to ensure the timely and safe delivery of these essential supplies to workers.

Commitment to Worker Welfare

Ibrahim Al Balooshi, Director of Sustainability and Partnerships at MBRGI, highlighted the campaign’s humanitarian focus, stating that it embodies the UAE community’s core values of generosity and compassion. He emphasized the importance of protecting the health and safety of workers, particularly during the extreme summer heat. Al Balooshi noted that MBRGI’s support aligns with its commitment to leveraging resources for humanitarian projects that benefit all community segments.

Community Impact and Previous Successes

Alia Al Shamlan, Director of Ferjan Dubai, remarked on the campaign’s previous successes, which have set a high standard for this year’s efforts. The third edition builds on the achievements of the last two years, where the campaign successfully reached numerous workers across Dubai. Al Shamlan expressed gratitude for the community’s support and the collaboration with various partners, which has been crucial in meeting the campaign’s objectives.

The previous editions of the campaign saw significant participation, with the second edition attracting over 15 government entities and private sector companies, along with 250 volunteers. This collaboration resulted in the distribution of 2 million bottles of water, juices, and frozen treats to workers in Dubai.

Logistics and Volunteer Engagement

As part of this year’s initiative, Ferjan Dubai is deploying refrigerated vehicles to various districts in Dubai, ensuring a wider reach for the distribution of cold drinks and treats. The campaign partners are actively involved in providing logistical support, while volunteers play a vital role in executing the distribution efforts on the ground.

Ferjan Dubai, a social enterprise, aims to empower local communities by fostering strong connections between residents and public and private institutions. The organization promotes volunteerism and community engagement to enhance the quality of life and encourage positive behaviors within society.

The first edition of the Al Freej Fridge campaign in 2024 successfully distributed 1 million refreshing items to workers across the emirate, laying the groundwork for the subsequent editions.
