This device is paired with an overhauled colposcope, transforming the traditionally bulky gynecological machine into a sleek VR headset. Shaw’s decision to integrate a colposcope into the design was pivotal. “I had to consider that changing the device would automatically impact several medical procedures since the design is dramatically different from anything currently available,” she explained. By rethinking the colposcope alongside the speculum, Shaw has streamlined the development process, reducing the number of versions from eight to just two focused medical devices.
