DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, June 12, 2025—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Vietnam’s Sustainability Investment Promotion and Development Joint Stock Company (SIPCO) has emerged as the first runner-up in the Innovative Projects Award for large projects during the fourth cycle of the esteemed Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award. This prestigious award, monitored by the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE), boasts a total prize pool of USD 1 million and recognizes scalable, sustainable solutions fueled by renewable energy to combat water scarcity.

SIPCO’s recognition stems from its groundbreaking ceramic coating nano-silver pot filter (CSPF) program, aimed at supplying safe drinking water to vulnerable schools and communities across Southeast Asia. These clay-based filters, enhanced with nano-silver, effectively eliminate bacteria, viruses, and sediments from polluted water sources, such as rivers, wells, and rainwater.

Each filter can process two to three liters of water per hour, making it ideal for household and school use. With a lifespan of up to 10 years and periodic replacement of the clay pot component, these filters have a remarkable reach. SIPCO’s automated facility is capable of producing an impressive 120,000 units each month. To date, SIPCO has delivered over 1.8 million units, positively impacting 13.7 million individuals, which includes 1.7 million households and 6,000 schools, generate an astonishing estimated 23.15 billion liters of clean water annually.

Furthermore, the initiative has contributed to a reduction of 1.8 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, resulting in verified carbon credits under frameworks like the Clean Development Mechanism and Verified Carbon Standard. SIPCO collaborates closely with organizations such as the Red Cross and actively involves local communities in the production, distribution, and maintenance of these filters, which fosters sustainable economic opportunities in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

Hoang Anh Dung, Chairman and CEO of SIPCO, expressed, “The water crisis is a serious threat to human health as it leads to the spread of disease. Addressing this challenge requires collective action. No single individual, company, or organization can solve it alone. We must come together and work in unity to find sustainable solutions. Receiving this award has been a powerful source of encouragement, boosting my confidence to continue my research and develop new innovations and technologies that can help tackle water scarcity.”
