HORECA and Salon du Chocolat: A Landmark Event in Riyadh
The 14th edition of HORECA Riyadh and the third Salon du Chocolat et de la Pâtisserie Riyadh have concluded, marking a transformative week that highlighted Riyadh’s emerging role as a central hub in global hospitality and gastronomy.
Transforming the Venue
Organized in collaboration with the Culinary Arts Commission (CAC), this year’s events turned the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center into the largest gathering of hospitality and foodservice professionals ever witnessed in the kingdom.
Spanning an impressive 42,000 square meters, HORECA Riyadh took place alongside Host Arabia and Saudi Elite Chefs. More than 500 exhibitors showcased their offerings, representing over 4,200 brands. The events drew a remarkable 51,000 professional visitors from regions including the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, all eager to explore the innovations and talents on display.

Reflecting on the event’s significance, Jad Taktak, CEO of Semark Group, commented, “We marked a new chapter for Saudi Arabia’s hospitality scene. HORECA Riyadh has reaffirmed its status as a key platform for innovation, learning, and networking, heralding a new era of expansion in Saudi Arabia’s hospitality and foodservice sectors. Attendees participated in various competitions and experiences, including the Hospitality Salon Culinaire, as well as Barista and Mocktail Competitions. The event included insightful discussions in The Talks, coordinated with Hospitality News Middle East and Hodema Consulting Services.
Celebrating Pastry Arts
Meanwhile, the Salon du Chocolat et de la Pâtisserie Riyadh generated excitement with 40 masterclasses, live demonstrations, and pastry competitions featuring 30 esteemed international and regional pastry chefs. This blend of education and entertainment emphasized the importance of skill and artistry in the world of desserts.
Honoring Industry Leaders
This year, three special honorary awards were awarded to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the global and Saudi hospitality sectors. The Gastronomy Diplomacy Award went to Guillaume Gomez, the former French ambassador for gastronomy, for his efforts in promoting France’s culinary heritage worldwide. The Visionary Award was awarded to Pierre Marcolini, a renowned Belgian chocolatier, in acknowledgment of his exceptional influence on global chocolate craftsmanship. Additionally, Mayada Badr, CEO of the Culinary Arts Commission, received the Leadership Award for her vital role in enhancing Saudi culinary arts and fostering the next generation of chefs.
A Platform for Culinary Excellence
Adding to the event’s grandeur, the second edition of Saudi Elite Chefs, organized by the Culinary Arts Commission, celebrated the innovative spirit of some of the kingdom’s top culinary talents. This gathering emphasized the creativity and precision that exemplify Saudi culinary excellence.
Joumana Dammous-Salamé, managing director of Hospitality Services, the organization behind the HORECA brand and co-organizer of Salon du Chocolat et de la Pâtisserie Riyadh, shared her perspective: “HORECA Riyadh continues to serve as a catalyst for regional growth. It’s a genuine platform that connects people, ideas, and opportunities. On the other hand, Salon du Chocolat et de la Pâtisserie Riyadh showcased top craftsmanship and passion, drawing major international brands while also highlighting local confectioners.”
