UAE luxury car rental views surge 21% in September, ultra-luxury up 33%

Published:

In September, interest in luxury car rentals in the UAE surged, with views increasing by 21% compared to August, while the ultra-luxury segment saw an impressive 33% rise. This trend highlights a growing consumer preference for high-performance vehicles, as reported by dubizzle Cars, which noted significant increases in views for models like the Mercedes-AMG GT and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

According to the analysis, renters are increasingly drawn to performance cars, supercars, and flagship SUVs. The Mercedes-AMG GT experienced a remarkable 95% increase in listing views, while the ultra-luxury category, defined by daily rental rates exceeding AED1,000, generated 97,600 ad views in September. This marks ultra-luxury as the fastest-growing rental category, with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan leading individual model growth at 45% month-on-month.

Performance Models Accelerate

The luxury rental category, which includes vehicles priced between AED500 and AED1,000 per day, attracted over 105,500 views, reflecting a 21% increase from the previous month. Notably, the Mercedes-Benz CLE-Class and BMW X6 also saw significant growth, with views rising by 86.5% and 60%, respectively. This diverse interest indicates that consumers are not only focused on sports cars but are also exploring larger SUVs that offer comfort and versatility.

Sherif Magdy, Director of Sales at dubizzle Cars, emphasized that the data illustrates a broadening interest in premium rentals. He noted that consumers are motivated by various factors, including the desire to experience specific models or celebrate special occasions without the long-term commitment of ownership. This trend underscores the importance of providing a wide range of options to meet diverse consumer preferences.

Mobility Options Broaden

The evolving rental market in the UAE is enhancing consumer flexibility, allowing access to a variety of performance cars and luxury SUVs. However, it’s important to note that the views recorded do not necessarily correlate with actual rental transactions. The figures reflect browsing interest rather than completed rentals, indicating a shift in consumer behavior towards exploring premium vehicle options.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reported a significant expansion in the vehicle rental sector, with a 33% increase in registered rental companies in 2024. This growth has led to a broader fleet of vehicles available for rent, including a notable rise in high-end rentals, which increased by 73% compared to the previous year.

Rental Rules Evolve

As the rental market expands, regulations are also adapting. The RTA has introduced initiatives such as the Takamul Permit, aimed at enhancing collaboration between luxury transport and car rental sectors. This permit facilitates the temporary use of luxury vehicles, providing additional flexibility for operators catering to both residents and tourists.

Furthermore, the RTA has implemented a unified rental contract to standardize terms across rental offices, ensuring clarity in the relationship between rental companies and customers. This regulatory evolution is crucial for maintaining a robust and consumer-friendly rental market in Dubai.

As Dubai continues to attract international visitors—869,000 in August alone—the demand for luxury and performance vehicles is likely to remain strong. The rental data from dubizzle reflects a growing trend towards flexible vehicle access, aligning with broader shifts in consumer preferences away from traditional ownership models.
