GACA’s Commitment to Enhancing Airport Services in Saudi Arabia

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is actively working to elevate the quality of service and improve the overall passenger experience at airports across Saudi Arabia. This initiative is part of a broader strategy that evaluates performance based on 11 key criteria, ensuring that travelers receive the best possible service.

Top Performers Among International Airports

In the competitive landscape of international airports that handle over 15 million passengers each year, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has emerged as a leader, achieving an impressive compliance rate of 82%. Following closely is King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, which recorded a compliance rate of 73%. These rankings reflect GACA’s commitment to maintaining high standards in airport operations and passenger services.

Airports Serving 5 to 15 Million Passengers

For airports catering to between 5 million and 15 million passengers annually, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam took the top spot with a remarkable compliance rate of 91%. This performance underscores the airport’s dedication to providing efficient services. Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah also performed well, demonstrating the ongoing improvements in this category.

Smaller Airports Making Strides

In the category of airports that serve between 2 million and 5 million passengers each year, Abha International Airport distinguished itself by achieving a perfect compliance rate of 100%. This airport excelled particularly in minimizing average wait times for both departing and arriving passengers, setting a benchmark for efficiency.

Excellence in Smaller Airport Operations

For international airports with fewer than 2 million passengers annually, Qaisumah International Airport also achieved a compliance rate of 100%. This airport not only met the compliance standards but also excelled in maintaining short wait times, enhancing the travel experience for its users.

Domestic Airport Rankings

On the domestic front, King Saud bin Abdulaziz Airport in Al-Baha ranked first among all domestic airports, achieving a compliance rate of 100%. This airport outperformed its counterparts in terms of wait-time efficiency, showcasing its commitment to providing a seamless travel experience for passengers.

Comprehensive Evaluation Criteria

GACA’s evaluation criteria encompass a wide range of factors that contribute to passenger satisfaction. These include wait times at check-in, baggage claim, passport control, and customs. Additionally, the criteria assess services for individuals with disabilities, ensuring that all travelers receive the support they need. By aligning these standards with international best practices, GACA is setting a high bar for airport operations in Saudi Arabia.
