– The World Green Economy Summit 2025 will explore the role of technology and innovation in advancing climate security for developing societies.
The World Green Economy Summit (WGES), held under the auspices of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has emerged as a key platform for driving global climate action. With its 11th edition scheduled for October 1-2, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the summit seeks to empower communities that are particularly vulnerable to climate change. This year’s theme, ‘Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy,’ invites innovative discussions and actionable solutions for enhancing climate security.
This year’s summit will delve into how modern technologies can bolster the resilience of developing societies. Emphasizing the ‘Technology and Innovation’ pillar, the event promises to focus on cutting-edge applications, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), which can optimize renewable energy use, enhance predictive analytics, and improve the monitoring of carbon emissions. Moreover, the summit will discuss vital energy storage solutions and underscore the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing green technologies.
Ensuring climate security
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman of the World Green Economy Organization, reiterated that hosting WGES in Dubai underscores the UAE’s commitment to leading global climate initiatives. “Climate change significantly threatens developing communities, which often lack the infrastructure to withstand extreme conditions,” he stated. The summit aims to harness Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to create a just, inclusive approach to climate security for the most vulnerable.
Accelerating technology transfer
At WGES 2025, a core objective will be to expedite the transfer of technology and knowledge to bolster the capacity of developing societies facing climate challenges.
