Abu Dhabi – Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, has announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has transitioned from reactive crisis management to a proactive food security system. Tour of Silal Group Facilities

During a recent visit to Silal Group’s facilities in Abu Dhabi, Her Excellency was joined by H.E. Dhafer Al Qasimi, Group CEO of Silal, along with representatives from both government and private sectors. The tour underscored Silal’s leadership in food and agricultural technology, focusing on the efficiency of supply chain infrastructure, operational readiness, and the availability of the UAE’s strategic reserves of essential commodities.

Her Excellency praised Silal as a vital partner in bolstering national food security. She emphasized that the company’s innovative approach to expanding supply networks is indicative of the robustness of the national economy, which ensures market stability and meets the needs of the UAE community. The Minister highlighted the resilience of the UAE’s supply chains, which have effectively delivered food products to markets despite regional challenges.

The ‘Ensure Essentials’ Initiative

During her visit, Her Excellency was briefed on Silal Group’s ‘Ensure Essentials’ initiative. She remarked that this initiative represents a significant advancement in enhancing supply chain readiness and flexibility in delivering key food products to markets. This effort is critical in establishing a sustainable food security framework within the country.

The ‘Ensure Essentials’ initiative aims to strengthen the agriculture and food sector, ensuring a steady flow and stability of essential goods. It also seeks to enhance supply chain efficiency and sustainability through collaboration with relevant government entities. The initiative boasts a portfolio of over 350 products across nine essential categories, supported by a nationwide logistics network that contributes to supply continuity, price stability, and improved operational efficiency.

Commitment to National Food Security

H.E. Dhafer Al Qasimi stated that Silal is dedicated to reinforcing food supply chains in the UAE through an integrated system encompassing sourcing, storage, and distribution. This approach ensures efficiency, reliability, and the consistent availability of essential goods, aligning with the national food security agenda.

He acknowledged the crucial role of various government entities in facilitating the uninterrupted flow of goods into the country. These include the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, and the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.

H.E. Al Qasimi expressed gratitude for the tireless efforts of all teams involved in overcoming recent challenges. He noted their exceptional commitment and readiness across all stages of the supply chain, which have been vital in safeguarding the UAE’s food supply.
