Sharjah, UAE — Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), officially launched AUS Press at the Warsaw International Book Fair, coinciding with Sharjah’s role as Guest of Honour at the event.
Establishment of AUS Press
AUS Press serves as the university’s new publishing arm, aimed at enhancing scholarship, supporting translation efforts, and fostering knowledge exchange between the region and the global community. The initiative is guided by high editorial standards and seeks to publish works of both regional and international significance, contributing to broader discussions on culture, society, and the human experience.
Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi emphasized the importance of universities not only in generating knowledge but also in ensuring that this knowledge is shared, translated, and integrated into public discourse across diverse cultures.
Cultural Exchange at the Fair
The Guest of Honour program in Sharjah brought together a diverse group of publishers, writers, academics, artists, and cultural institutions from both the UAE and Poland. This collaboration showcased Sharjah’s cultural vision through literature, publishing, and intellectual dialogue.
During the launch, Sheikha Bodour unveiled AUS Press’s inaugural publication, AUS 25: American University of Sharjah, A Legacy of Learning | 1997–Today. This commemorative volume chronicles the university’s journey since its establishment in 1997, featuring contributions from university leadership, faculty, staff, alumni, and former leaders. Additionally, AUS Press announced its first title acquisition: the Arabic edition of Zbig: The Life of Zbigniew Brzezinski, America’s Great Power Prophet, authored by Edward Luce, with publication slated for the Sharjah International Book Fair in 2026. This biography focuses on Zbigniew Brzezinski, a notable Polish-American statesman and former National Security Advisor.

This initiative is crucial for advancing the university’s mission of knowledge preservation and ensuring that the intellectual and cultural contributions from AUS and Sharjah reach audiences beyond the campus.
