Paul Seixas impresses in training, drawing comparisons to Tadej Pogacar ahead of World Championships

Published:

Rising French cyclist Paul Seixas has drawn comparisons to Tadej Pogacar as he prepares for the World Championships road race in Montreal this Sunday. Seixas, who recently turned 20, has already made a name for himself by finishing fourth in this year’s Tour de France and securing a bronze medal in the individual time trial at the same venue. Pavel Sivakov, who will join Seixas at Decathlon next year, expressed his admiration for the young rider, noting his impressive physical capabilities and potential, as reported by Gulf Times.

Sivakov, a seasoned rider with UAE Team Emirates, has observed Seixas closely during their training sessions. He remarked that Seixas possesses a physical edge similar to that of Pogacar, stating that when they ride together, Seixas often outperforms his teammates. Sivakov highlighted the unique aura both riders share, which sets them apart as leaders on the bike.

High Praise for the Young Cyclist

The praise from Sivakov is significant, considering Pogacar’s status as one of cycling’s greats, with five Tour de France victories and numerous other accolades to his name. Sivakov noted that both riders share a laid-back attitude off the bike, which contributes to their strength during races. He believes that this relaxed mindset allows them to focus on performance without being bogged down by stress or overthinking.

Sivakov also pointed out that Seixas has evolved significantly since his debut races last year. He now approaches competitions with a winning mindset, a shift from his earlier experiences as a newcomer. This change in attitude is particularly important as Pogacar’s absence from the race due to injury alters the competitive landscape.

Team Dynamics Ahead of the Championships

As the French team gears up for the World Championships, Sivakov expressed his commitment to supporting Seixas against formidable competitors like Remco Evenepoel and Isaac del Toro. He views his role as an honour and is focused on helping Seixas achieve success, stating that the team’s collective goal is to secure the world championship title.

With the World Championships approaching, all eyes will be on Seixas as he aims to build on his impressive season and make a mark on the international cycling stage.
