100+ Indian Classical Dancers Took the Stage in Dubai for a Thematic Dance Production Celebrating the Timeless Power of Women
Dubai, UAE, 14th August 2025 – The vibrant city of Dubai served as a stunning backdrop for a remarkable celebration of Indian art, culture, and community. On this evening, over 100 artists came together for a grand Indian classical dance show titled NARI SHAKTI, or “The Power of Women.” This event was a multifaceted presentation comprising 15 diverse performances that culminated in the awe-inspiring thematic Bharatanatyam production, AGNI KANYE. Under the brilliant direction of Guru Iswarya Bharadwaj, the founder of NANDA Performing Arts Centre and the Gulf Indian Performing Arts & Music Society (GIPAMS), the event resonated emotionally with an audience of over 1,500 individuals, many of whom were moved to tears.
A Celebration by Women, for Women
What made this event particularly special was its organization; the entire show was conceptualized, planned, and executed by women. Utilizing primarily self-made props and costumes, the dancers and organizers demonstrated their creativity and resourcefulness. The initiative received support from various entities, including the Indian People’s Forum (IPF), Trescon, SkyBlue Media, Precision Metals, and several others. This collaborative effort highlighted the spirit of community and shared purpose among women in the UAE, making it not simply a performance but a vivid statement of empowerment and resilience.
AGNI KANYE: A Thematic Triumph of Good over Evil
The centerpiece of the evening, AGNI KANYE, captivated the audience with its vibrant costumes, powerful narratives, and mesmerizing choreography. The production focused on the life of Draupadi, a pivotal character from the Mahabharata, one of the two monumental Hindu epics. Draupadi’s story, filled with trials and tribulations, is a testament to the strength and resilience of women. The performance showcased dancers ranging from just five years old to those with decades of experience, emphasizing the beauty of intergenerational collaboration within the arts.
This inclusive show also featured exhibits from people of determination and honored women who embody the spirit of NARI SHAKTI. Esteemed figures such as Karthika Vaidyanathan (Carnatic Singer & Filmfare Awardee), Puja Unni (Classical Dancer), and Renuka Parameshwar (Carnatic Teacher) were conferred the title for their positive impact on society,echoing Draupadi’s legacy.

NARI SHAKTI underscored the UAE’s vital role as a global hub for artistic expression and cultural exchange.
