He emphasized the critical nature of water scarcity, stating, “Humanity today faces numerous challenges, and the scarcity of clean water is among the most pressing.” His words underscored the UAE’s vision to utilize technology and innovation as powerful tools to advance humanitarian goals, especially in regions grappling with water shortages.

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Suqia UAE, also made noteworthy comments regarding the importance of the award in fostering practical solutions to global water challenges. He attributed the success of Suqia UAE, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, to its innovative approach, having positively impacted around 15 million people through over 1,000 sustainable water projects in 37 countries.

UN reports reveal alarming statistics: approximately 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water. Moreover, UNICEF estimates that more than 1,000 children under five succumb daily to diseases stemming from inadequate water and sanitation. These figures highlight the urgency of initiatives like the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award, as they strive to address such critical issues.
