Sheikh Mansoor Inaugurates the World Sports Summit in Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who serves as the President of the UAE National Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, opened the World Sports Summit in Dubai on Monday. In his address, Sheikh Mansoor praised the unifying power of sports in bringing people together across the globe.

Gathering of Sports Leaders

The two-day Summit, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, gathered more than 1,500 influential figures from the sports sector. This included athletes, legends, and representatives from various sports organizations and federations worldwide.

Sheikh Mansoor emphasized that the Summit acts as a critical platform for shaping the future of international sports. Attendees will discuss both immediate and long-term opportunities for development while also focusing on strengthening international cooperation. He believes the event can serve as a springboard for generating innovative ideas that tackle challenges in sports, such as regulation, talent development, and the integration of artificial intelligence into sports initiatives.

Visionary Approach to Sports

The event kicked off with an opening speech by His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. He highlighted Dubai’s status as an ideal locale for meaningful dialogues that aim to foster international partnerships. His Excellency underscored that one of the Summit’s main objectives is to cultivate global conversations about the current and future landscape of sports, emphasizing its importance in improving the quality of life worldwide.

The Universal Language of Football

The importance of sports culture was further reinforced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino during a keynote session titled “The Next 90 Minutes.” Infantino articulated how football transcends cultural and age barriers, uniting people globally. He called for continued investment in talent development, infrastructure, and national federations across all continents, stressing the urgent need for adapting modern technologies to enhance the game’s appeal and competitiveness.

Diverse Perspectives from Renowned Athletes

The lineup featured an array of prominent athletes, including former world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic. In a session on sustainability in sports, Djokovic shared his journey and the significance of nurturing young talent to create future stars.

Additionally, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in Bahrain, addressed the audience in a session titled “Leading from the Front Lines.” His insights aimed at inspiring cooperation within the sports community.

Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao also took part in a panel discussion, recounting his sporting journey and the challenges he overcame to achieve international acclaim. Nasser Al Khelaifi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, shared the club’s recent successes in sports and business, while tennis champions Ons Jabeur and Paula Badosa discussed how to turn pressures into historic achievements.

A Comprehensive Agenda for Day Two

The second day of the Summit promises an engaging lineup. MMA star Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to discuss the future of combat sports, moderated by former football star Rio Ferdinand.

Other sessions will feature Italian football great Roberto Baggio, who will join his daughter Valentina and fellow legend Alessandro Del Piero, also a World Cup champion. Discussions will revolve around the intersections of professional athletics and sports management, featuring American football icons like Reggie Bush and Marquez Colston.

A unique session will explore the evolving relationship between sports and the global fashion industry, with contributions from figures such as Jamie Wynne of Jimmy Choo and Victor Cruz from American football.

Special Sessions and Insights

A dedicated session on the EuroLeague basketball league will spotlight prominent personalities, including Tony Parker and Abdullah Al Naboodah. The topic of sports investment will be addressed by a panel of successful investors, including Amanda Staveley.

Rounding off the Summit will be a special panel featuring six World Cup-winning players and coaches. Notable figures like Ronaldo, Cafu, and Andrés Iniesta will come together to share their experiences, moderated by fellow World Cup champion Alessandro Del Piero.

By gathering such an esteemed group of sports leaders and influencers, the World Sports Summit not only aims to strengthen existing relationships but also to pave the way for innovative solutions and partnerships that will shape the future of sports on a global scale.
